The Komodo Dragon is my favorite lizard and someday I'm creating a new comic book anti-hero called Thomas The Komodo Dragon.

How long does it take for a bitten person to die of the komodo dragon's venom?

This is a phenomenal shot! The lighting highlights all the interesting textures and patterns very well really showcasing the beauty of the Monitor. The out of focus background instantly draws attention to the main subject and the composition is fantastic. It's a truly incredible photo

In Hungarian they're called "VarΓ‘nusz".. When I hear/ read the name "monitor" can't help thinking about computer screens.
It's a nice photo of this underrated creature

Looks more like Komodo dragon. But yes, they are just really HUGE Monitor lizards. Amazing how they can look so cute, and yet are so dangerous with their

poisonous bites.Β

Coffie-Buzz In reply to dondena [2013-12-10 16:46:27 +0000 UTC]

Actually, the Bite of a Komodo Dragon isn't poisonous The Komodo Dragon carries 50 different types of bacteria of different intensity's and infectious levels in their saliva. The prey they bite die of infections and blood poisoning. The bacteria also rots the wounded flesh and prevents it from healing Β

sorry... I'm a nerd, I know ...... but woot for the Nat-Geo Wild Chanel and their reptile specials xDΒ

dondena In reply to Coffie-Buzz [2013-12-11 04:29:09 +0000 UTC]

It's ok. But all that bacteria is like a poison. That's more of what I meant.Β

I love watching that channel, when I can. I don't exactly have it at the moment though.Β

Nat-Geo has more better shows to watch than Animal Planet!Β
