Description "One word, Finrod, and I'll order to cease..."

This illustration for the Russian Leithian-based fan novel "Beyond the dawn" by Olga Chigirinskaya.
Isn't my success. I'll remake it, certainly. But it is important for me, as a point of my work I had carried and ran through.

Therefore I'll place it here.

I'm not nearly as well-versed in the Silmarillion as I would like to be, so would you mind telling me exactly what's going on? From what I can guess, there's an elf (dark elf, close to an orc?) torturing Finrod. It's truly a dark, frightening scene (very well done, though). And that orc is wonderful. He's the missing link between the original orcs and the orcs I imagine in LotR. I like this.

That's Sauron watching him.

Poor, Finrod...

You make "Beyond the dawn" by Olga Chigirinskaya sound very interesting. Is there a link to an English version of it?

Orcs are supremely sad. Considering the love and respect he obviously put into the elves, to have them twisted like that into the darkest of creatures, I think, was one of Tolkien's most daring moves. Probably some connection to fallen angels/demons.

Oh, 'best piece' or not it's still great! I would love to read the fanfiction as well.. Is it available on the net? And, perhaps, in a language version other than Russian? ^^'

(btw, love Sauron in this one -- because it's Sauron, isn't it?)

Thanks!
Well, it's not really a fan-fiction story. It's more of a beatiful novel or romance.
It's pretty available in the net, too. You can find it here:

Yet I'm sorry to say, today the text could hardly exist anywhere in any language but Russian.

It seems I'm able to understand Polish, sometimes...

The same as me Russian language sometimes I've been learning Russian language at primary school for 2 years. Don't remember much (beside of few rhymes like: "U mienia apiat, tritcat sziest i piat u mienia temperatura, poczemu ja nie goriu, poczemu ja nie bolnoj, ja zdorowyj, szto so mnoj?" Funny, isnt't it? And I know russian alphabet but I can't read fluently, I have to remind myself what is that letter in polish and then translate it...So it take much time I wish I will someday occasion to learn Russian fluently. I would translate many of your beautiful fanfics. Espectially The Dark Book of Arda or Zwillmarillion.

I jeszcze Balduran ma zamiar z rosyjskiego zdawać maturę, bdb zna ten język (kiedyś mi tłumaczył komentarze nt. rysunków w dzienniku Tuuliky). Nie wiem czy znają język wystarczająco by tłumaczyć książkę, ale jakiś krótki tekst to na bank, szczególnie Miriel

w takim razie zobaczę, w wolnej chwili.

The bodies are looking real and Max Beckmannish at the same time (especially the orc)! It's even ... harder than the book, more frightening.

That is the single most terrifying drawing of an Orc I've ever seen... I can imagine that this was what Tolkien had in mind when he spoke of "corrupted" elves. Thanks for finally giving me a real picture of them.

Great! To be honest, the title first got my attention. Finrod.
But the drawing itself is well done too.
