But that what is transparent purple being waiting for? They are waiting for excitement? Or pure chilling out? Great art!

It's funny, waiting for the bus (or anything else) is something that we all do differently even though it seems like we'd all do it exactly the same way.
I like the sense of peaceful tension you got here.

Exactly, and that's why I find little mundane scenes to be interesting. To me it reveals a lot of little things about a person's natural behavior and personality that you don't see in the bigger, more "important" points usually shown in a story.

I love "boring" scenes! I hope nobody's asked you this before, but I've noticed that you and a few other artist's all have this erased edge thing they do to their pieces. Do you just go at the edges with an eraser tool, or do you have a preset equation to decide how you're going to erase at it or what? I'm very curious XD

It varies from image to image. Usually it's actually a white brush tool that I paint over top of the whole image with (or whatever color my BG will be) That way I can alternate between a white brush and an eraser to get positive and negative shapes without losing any of the original painting and without having to paint in any new, small areas. So there's more painting under a lot of that sctratchiness usually because it makes my life easier in the long run. XD And I don't just go at it without a plan. I do it bit by bit until I get just the negative and positive shapes I feel are best for the image. Granted, it doesn't take long since I've done it so much. It's just second nature now.

Thank you! And yeah, I get you. It does have a weirdly nostalgic feeling to do imagery like this. Not like, a "childhood" kind of nostalgia. Just a nostalgia for simplicity I think.

Yeah, I agree. I like the relatability of images like this. :>
And actually the posters didn't take very long. They're not very detailed so it was just sort of scribbling really.

This is such a great piece! I love the idea of "slice of life" drawings, even though I haven't done much of them. (that'll change!)

Thank you very much! Lol, maybe I'm trying to get myself in an actual January mood, because it's been nothing but 60 degrees and sunny here which is super weird and not wintery at all. XD

I really like mood of this scene. The colors, composition, and lighting all add up to a really nice aesthetic. And the slice of life thing is really interesting to me too. Love it!

Aahhh this is wonderful on two levels: a) the art (duh) but b) the underlying thought of drawing your characters doing 'nothing important' as well. This might be a bit of an animal-lover induced conversational leap, but it's something I greatly enjoy in wildlife illustrations as well, and especially dinosaur art. For some reason people have this incredible urge to paint dinosaurs killing one another, or fighting or hunting all the time so then it's just a sigh of relief to see a painting of a dinosaur sitting on his butt and enjoying the sunshine, you know? Same with OCs, I just have this great love for drawing and drawings of ocs doing regular stuff, like you said. I guess maybe it's got to do with getting to know a character better? After all, one would spend more time in one's life waiting or sitting on the couch or chillaxing than, say, beating three bad guys in one awesome ninja move.
Any way, to end the blabbering on a more cohesive note, love your art. Especially the lighting here looks great to me. Nice early morning cold stale winter-ish colours, and really good shadowwork on the bus stop. Luv it :>

Thank you! ^^ And no, I totally get it. One of my favorite paintings I've ever seen was in this gallery in Wyoming and it was just this big painting of like, three deer walking through a shallow stream. Nothing really exciting, but it was such a lovely painting and I always remember it when I'm trying to paint nice scenery. XD And yes, I feel like these sorts of images help me to get to know my own characters more than really action-filled ones. Which then helps me more when I do those kind of images too.

But they're better and back to work now so I'm less crowded. XD And my cousin is gone till Wednesday so if you wanna chat tomorrow evening or something, I'm down if u are.
