I felt like doodling my dog, Luna! I can’t remember if I mentioned it here or not but I adopted a Catahoula Leopard Dog back before Christmas. And I named her after one of my favorite kid’s books- Stellaluna. :> And my sis-in-law calls her Luna Lovegood, which makes her full name “Stellaluna Lovegood.” Yeah, we're Harry Potter nerds.

I love the cocky expression in her face! XD It just screams "I didn't get into the trash, you can't blame me!" But boy it looks like she's got an interesting build, coloration, and face! Definitely got me curious what she could be (doesn't help I work in a clinic). Definitely could see the Catahoula but the build reminds me more of a Whippet than a Weimaraner but...doesn't matter, she still sounds like a great dog and glad to hear she's got a great home and a great art piece of her

lol, pretty much. XD And yeah I don't think she's part Weimaraner. She seems too small to me, because I've seen Weimaraners and they're big dogs. And Luna seems about done growing now and she's fairly petite. She comes up to about my knees and is very limber. And I hadn't thought about it, but now that you mention it she does have a lot of similar qualities to a whippet. Especially the ears and eyes. Her ears look a lot more like a whippet's than the images of regular Catahoula.
Well, we'll probably never know for sure, but either way she's a cutie. XD

Oh wow so she's pretty small! I thought she'd be slightly bigger. Wouldn't surprise me if she's got Whippet somewhere from the body build you depicted, but the only way to really know is through something like Wisdom Panel. But it doesn't really matter because she really is a cutie and a good dog

Poor baby. I wonder if the grave was that of a previous owner? I've seen a lot of pics/videos of dogs laying on their deceased owners' graves. It's heartbreaking. I wonder how they know their person is there...
Anyway, getting off topic. Catahoulas are so pretty! And this drawing is so cute ^^ Very lovely dog indeed

Yeah, I thought that at first, but I don't think it was a previous owner. Luna is still a puppy and she would have only been a couple months old when the shelter took her in. She also showed no signs of being previously trained. So if she's had a previous owner it would've only been for a very brief period while she was very young. But it is possible I suppose.

Aahhhhh! You're one of my favourite dA artists and Catahoulas are my all-time favourite dogs ^^ She looks beautiful, you should draw her more often ;D Hopefully one day I'll have the space to own a Catahoula!

Thank you! And it's funny I actually hadn't ever heard of a catahoula until we saw her at the shelter. And most people I know personally haven't ever heard of the breed. I had to do a bit of research to figure out what they were. XD

Thanks! This is actually my first personal dog, and the first we've ever gotten from a shelter. But my sis-in-law is a trainer and has always gotten shelter dogs so she's pretty experienced with it. And I've always had pretty large dogs around so I'm used to training them and whatnot.

Yeah, we thought about that, but Luna is a puppy actually. She would have only been a couple months old when they brought her into the shelter because she was somewhere between 3 and 4 months by their estimate when we got her. And she didn't show any signs of having been trained at all, so I don't actually think she had a previous owner. Or if she did, it would have been extremely brief, you know?

lol, my mom liked it too and luckily she wasn't sick of it because we had a lot of other books that we read. I think the one we read the most was Very Hungry Caterpillar. Which, that's the book where my mom taught us how to roll our R's (she would do it as a joke when she read "Cherry Pie") which turned out nice because then we could all do it properly in Spanish classes. XD

Y'know, I heard a similar story about a German Shepherd. Except in the other story the grave belonged to his...late...owner...uh, Turtle? I think Luna here might have been...staying by her master's side. o_oU

I don't think so. Luna is still a puppy. She would have been very young when she was initially brought to the shelter. If she'd had another owner it would've only been for a month or two at the most. And she didn't show any indication of having already been trained at all when we got her. I mean, I guess it's possible but the time frame seems a bit short to me for her to have had/ gotten that attached to a previous owner. (I actually thought about this a lot when I got her.)
