Kuze, the Captain of Ouran High School’s football club, the “Ouran Orages” (Ouran Tempests).

I wanted to have a go at drawing him anime-style. I actually drew and inked a picture of Mei before-hand but this later picture was just quicker and simpler to colour so I’ve posted this one first.

Kuze is usually seen gnawing on an orange and loves to lecture people on their nutritional properties, but has a childhood grudge against Kyouya who once stole his thunder by giving their fellow students more facts about oranges than he did Kuze’s family controls the largest domestic share of fruit and vegetable imports, hence his obsession with fruit.

I’ve never seen any colour references for Kuze so this is the colour-scheme I imagine him to have when reading the manga. His hair is usually left free of screen-tone which gives the impression that it must be a light colour so I always think of him as having light brown hair (as there are already several characters with blonde hair and I can’t imagine it as being a light silver colour or white, either). I never actually thought about his eye colour before but I decided on green for a few different reasons. I can’t think off the top of my head of any other memorable Ouran characters with green eyes so it would make his character design more individual, it would fit with the citrus theme and also it could be taken to symbolise his jealousy of Kyouya.
