Oh yeah. Movies/videos are definitely the most space-consuming of all media. Tons of pictures in their own rights. You said they're all in 1080p also? Yeah, that's a killer. Of course, you know this for sure (it IS your computer after all). Question is, how are you going to fix this? External HDD, new internal HDD, or delete a lot of stuff forever?

Also, off topic... If your computer is full off of your own things, I kinda wonder how much media a website like YouTube is filled with... Probably thousands of terabytes already. Wow. Sorry, off topic thought.

*mindstretch.jpg* (yeah, I don't know if that even exists, whatevs)

It hurts to think of the Youtube data usage...The co-founder of a fiber-optics company in my area came to my high school's career day, and it was a stretch to even start to comprehend the amount of data floating around, not to mention the bandwidth...Sorry, I'm off topic too. And babbling.

Oh man. You had to mention bandwidth... That is not a force to be reckoned with. Millions of users almost every 10 minutes would literally kill an average website. I don't even know how to guess the amount of data that's streamed every living minute of YouTube. The people of Google must get paid a lot.

Yes...Yes....and Yes.

BB-K In reply to Tsitra360 [2012-05-27 10:28:37 +0000 UTC]

Wow, quite normal for today's users, but to me, it's all too greedy, I'm still with 480p when it comes to movies. But images, maximum 3000p for vectors and regular artworks are 1080p. Sound wise, 48khtz is fine but my minimum favorite is 44khtz, anything beyond 48 is kind of ridiculous.

Speaking of ridiculous, don't you think quad core is kind of overkill on mobile devices these days? Even I find the Galaxy S3 is hard to swallow. All of these stuff are meant for games and full HD movies, but HD movies are best watch on bigger screens like those of monitors and TVs, tablets and smartphones are just ridiculous when their physical screen size is kind of small!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tsitra360 In reply to BB-K [2012-05-28 17:56:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah quad is ridiculous. I'm now using Autodesk's new app called Ink. Resolution independent lines (meaning vector) and I have no problems. Its now a spec race that is unnecessary haha.

BB-K In reply to Tsitra360 [2012-05-29 00:57:09 +0000 UTC]

I also find the iPad 3's quad core ridiculous too which in the end, heat up the iPad pretty hot and bad. If I would to buy it, I'll take iPad 2 is enough. But I don't really need it anyways, if I would to go for a tablet if I assume to get one, I'll take the Transformer TF300 from Asus like my brother did.

Tsitra360 In reply to BB-K [2012-05-29 16:10:21 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't get super hot actually. Time to time it gets warm but it isn't "omg my device is going to die!" . I on the other hand, is loving the quad core feature on the graphics. My painting apps are actually taking advantage of it and I'm getting a lot more flexibility and higher resolution options to paint with. Those features aren't enabled with the dual core. Also, since I jailbreak with a bunch of visual tweaks, it isn't slow on that anymore. That's a plus.

BB-K In reply to Tsitra360 [2012-05-29 16:33:09 +0000 UTC]

I know is not that hot, but it just doesn't feel right when other customers complain. Moreover, when it's too hot, it'll degrade its lifespan a lot faster than normal. And it's even worse when it's made in China. Nvidia did get an embarrassing "defeat" when the A5X kicked their Tegra 3's butt, but it won't compare against the companion core & iPad 3's overheating weakness, kind of like both lose but win at the same time. Still, I wonder if any hacker still can jailbreak the processor so it'll tone down (or underclock) the whole temperature problems and make it as equivalent to the iPad 2's but without compromising too much performance.

WHOW! You jailbreak it? I didn't expect that. Well, I'm glad you're free from Apple's evil grip. I may hate Apple products, but I love those which are already jailbroken (But not as much as Android ones which I love more).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tsitra360 In reply to BB-K [2012-05-29 17:17:44 +0000 UTC]

haha, I just like the tweaks they do in the jailbreak community. Like this recent one [link] . It makes it act like a traditional desktop computer with multiple windows working with each other side by side. It doesn't matter what cool features other manufactures makes, within days some developer will duplicate it, I love that.

Disabling or clocking down the gpu will hurt the screen. Since the pixel density is so enormous it does require a more powerful gpu to run it. Its interesting, to have a 10" device and knowing that the screen can overfill my 24" monitor. haha so weird.

Speaking of Android. Are you getting the Galaxy S III ? I heard that its currently the TOP phone of androids...well, at least for this month haha

BB-K In reply to Tsitra360 [2012-05-29 17:59:27 +0000 UTC]

Ahh yes, multitasking, Apple never made those while Android already has it.

Speaking of that, I hope Samsung patented their new features as seen in the Galaxy S3 today (S Voice doesn't count), Android fans will be unhappy if Apple already have those patented either if Samsung was lazy to do it (When possibly too occupied with promoting the new flagship) or if already patented but kept in deep secrecy (Just like the Face Unlock, we all thought Google researched it as a new feature but sadly, Apple patented it first without us & Google knowing) by Apple.

Hmm, you may have a point when hackers try to underclock, the Retina technology compromises that option, therefore, forced to stick with the regular but very hot speed, yeap, when hot or full throttled, USB charging will not help either when the battery life goes down very fast compare to those without Retina. I just wish they could still do it.

As for me getting the S3, I wish I could, but let's face it, I'm already an insurance clerk instead of a graphic lecturer, I may not need that kind of super high-end and yet super expensive smartphone, all I need is something basic, just a mid-end with 5MP camera & 720p video recorder, that way I can bypass a separate purchase of a digital camera (Basic consumer level, not pro-sumer or DSLR ones), the Galaxy S Advance. Budget friendly enough for me, the one thing I may need in the future is an upgrade of my graphic card or forced to purchase a new desktop computer to compensate for any new games when my current hardware cannot. I had one old laptop (with an Nvidia 8000 or 9000 series I think), tried to play Left 4 Dead 2 but despite the most bottom end of settings, it still lags and crashes, so I'm forced to buy a new one (which is the current one I'm using, ATI Radeon HD 5470). Which means no need a super high end phone or a tablet, just either a new graphic card or desktop.

Ah okay. As for me I push the phone/tablet beyond regular media usage. So I need things to just work. Customization, is just a side hobby.

Me too, I hope mine will come out ICS soon, otherwise, I might have to root it and purchase a 3rd party warranty. Cyanogenmod is awesome and I'm tempted to get it. But for now it's all about being patient if they managed to get it upgraded.

60.4 GB/283 GB left here. I couldn't even store just your movies on this thing. Jeez.
I only have 6.35 GB of pony, and ~5.5GB of that is episodes. Would most of that 20 GB also happen to be episodes? They do seem to take up a lot of space.
which is totally worth it
