Description This is an iMac, not a Windows machine. Below I explain how I made this. This also showcases the potential of combining the customizability of both Windows and Mac combined.

The recent painting done by just makes me want to theme my iMac around his painting. You can see it up there as a wallpaper, the original is right here [link]

I dare you to download this screenshot, then you would actually see how big my iMac is...unless you already have a screen 24" +.

One runs rainmeter on windows, who in turns runs windows at the on mac, that is also running Mac OS X. Mac can run anything.

And what is the method you used to run Windows on your mac?

How fast is your mac? I have a 10.5 snow leopard, do you think that can handle something like this? Or will it slow down, or possibly freeze my computer?

Tsitra360 In reply to AbsurdBunny [2011-11-09 07:17:22 +0000 UTC]

Its pretty decent. As long as you don't run a lot of processor heavy programs you should be fine.

Hmm, don't know if it's worth it. Chrome runs slow enough on my computer already, adding that might make it impossible to use. Cool background though.

Chrome runs slow? Nonsense. See if there has been updates, they practically have one every month.

As running a black DA, doesn't make it any slower. It simply restates the styles that DA already uses. So the amount of power it takes to run normal DA, is no different to run black DA.

Alright cool I guess I will add it. I always just seem to be able to browse faster with FireFox

Tsitra360 In reply to Panmansotherlife [2010-09-29 04:56:43 +0000 UTC]

Which is funny, because Chrome is 30% faster than Firefox. Definitely check for updates then.

Panmansotherlife In reply to Tsitra360 [2010-09-29 04:58:05 +0000 UTC]

Haha I will, I'm actually using Chrome right now, I usually just swap in between. If I'm doing a lot of things or running youtube/flash player I use FireFox, everything else is Chrome.

Tsitra360 In reply to Panmansotherlife [2010-09-29 05:01:27 +0000 UTC]

I see. I have Safari, Opera, Chrome, and Firefox. On Windows I use IE 9 Beta. I have no idea why I use all browsers.

It really doesn't matter if you run Firefox or Chrome for Youtube. They both use the same flash software. However, the way they handle full screen might matter.

A little confused on your question. I'll give an answer anyway.

I just go to blogs and sites that talks about how they customize their computers. My favorites, on Mac: [link] on Windows: [link] And also a lot of tinkering. Just back up files in case you mess up.

how are you running rainmeter on a mac?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tsitra360 In reply to Red-Steel [2010-09-29 04:40:59 +0000 UTC]

Mac's runs on intel chips. Windows runs on intel chips. So Apple made it where you can actually boot Windows on a separate partition. 3rd Party companies took it a step further. They made it run on top of Mac, called Coherence mode. Since I have both Mac and Windows, I can run any application. That's why I am able to run rainmeter on a Mac.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Red-Steel In reply to Tsitra360 [2010-09-29 06:15:09 +0000 UTC]

I had no clue that was possible

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

alex2539 In reply to Red-Steel [2010-09-29 19:10:00 +0000 UTC]

It's not. While it is true that Macs can now run Windows and dual boot with OSX, it is not true that OSX can natively run programs compiled for Windows. Rainmeter especially makes a lot of Windows-specific API calls and heavily relies on GDI+. So, while you can run Rainmeter in Windows on a Mac, you can't run Rainmeter in OSX on a Mac.

So rather than "How are you running Rainmeter on a Mac", the more apt question would be "How are you running Rainmeter in OSX?"

If I had to guess I would say that you're running Parallels (which is normally about $80 in case anyone is wondering), which lets you run Windows in a virtual machine and has a "Coherence" feature which gets rid of most of the "Windows" bits, leaving you with your OSX desktop and just the native Windows apps. That would also explain the extra Windows taskbar.

still there has been no way anyone has found (as far as I know) to run rainmeter inside of a mac until now.. even with programs such as this and wine.
