This work contains a well-chosen palate of contrast and complement accenting the key components without detracting from each other. There is good composition expressed with a sinuous placement of key features drawing the eye from one to another fluidly yet leaving semi-negative spaces where the imagination can roam. It possesses a neo-impressionistic character that presents just enough detail to project a certain feeling but lacking a definitive style so that this could represent many times and places with an appropriate mix of the mundane and the mysterious to add a realistic touch making it ‘believable’ but with uncertainty.
Perhaps done for a ‘game’ but is more than that.

The Island Map is a powerful representation of a magic island, in the genre of Neverland and Treasure Island. The artist, instead of doing a flat, two-dimensional cartographic representation, has instead graced us with a vivid three-dimensional artwork that instantly transports the viewer to this island paradise he has concocted.

While borrowing elements from other fantasy works, the artist has managed to create an individual work all his own, granting five stars for originality.

The technique is perfect for a whimsical world; it has enough detail to be vivid while there is enough blurring around the edges of the objects to give it a fanciful, fantastic feel.

A wonderful piece of artwork. Congratulations!

Takes me back to Monkey Island days as a world map. Gorgeous compared to the low-res, DOS-based SCUMM engine! Makes me think of the colorful islands of Chrono Cross, too.

love the island design, specially the little town in the center, being so small gives off the impression to be just recently made and it's inhabitants could be the first generation of people in that island, perfect setting for a story or an adventure game

I would suggest you make every part into a detailed work in itself. That way the viewer can zoom in and experience all the different environments of the Island with great immersion!

I wanna play around on the beach, looking for pirate treasure. I wanna go into the caves to find hidden secrets ... and so on...

Great work.

There's almost a feeling of noveau Disneyesque feeling (in other words, a modern take on some of the old Disneyland maps I'd see back in the 80s when I'd go there when I was a wee grasshopper). I love the felling, color, and sense of 3-D.

Nice. Level 1 starts at the beach and you move up the map to face the final boss in that skull mountain.

Guilty-10-Games In reply to MrSpanyard [2016-12-23 03:33:09 +0000 UTC]

Challenge Accepted.

The island is called, Dead Shark's Island.

First level is at the bottom left where the wreck ships on the beach. Call it, Tana Beach

Second level is that open desert above the beach, right before you enter the town. That area is called, the Deadzone cause everyone outside the town is cursed. You fight some monsters before you get to the main town called, Braveshire. This town you can do side quest, meet companions and build relationships with them, craft items, and take bounties on epic monsters.

Third level is the grass field on the right with the little cave. Lets call that whole light green field, The Weedwood Plains.

Forth level is that little island on the far right called, Fort Kraken. The story was that it was the only defenses that saved the island from an army of Krakens. Or so the story told.

Fifth level is that broken ship in the water, on the upper left of that map. The S.S. Roserhyma.

Sixth level, that entrance to the mountain. Call it, Heroes Gate. The mountain is called, Mount Silverrock.

Heroes fall the down the water fall.

Seventh level is that big patch of dark green forest, called Skull Leaf Forest .

Eighth level is that building to the right of the skull, called, The Temple of Ocean's Light.

Grab the special weapon from the Temple of Ocean's Light and head to level 9.

Ninth level is that skull shaped mountain called, Death's Gate.

Now build the lore of your world by finding out why those locations are called that way.

Gameplay wise, what will you do or what items you get on each level, and how do you get to each level.

mattsmemos.files.wordpress.com…

Well done, sir.
I must say, you have shown a great level of imagination and effort in there. I do not understand the last two proposed premises, but the levels seem both interesting for an RPG and coherent with the map shown.
Thank you so much, it was a real pleasure to read you.

Well, build a lore might be tricky, so I would better leave it for later.

And, even if I might not have your talent and will sound very cliché, I will try to tell how to progress for each level:

- Level 0: The protagonist wakes up in the Island inside the shipwreck after a cutscene or a cinematic of naval battle that went poorly for her (Like in Claw). To progress, she just have to pick up a stick and exit to the Tana Beach.
- Level 1: There's a strong monster that guards the entrance to the Deadzone. Let it be a giant crab. And the protagonist must arm herself and become stronger to overcome this foe with the help of the Hermit, who teaches her about the island and her situation (The island doesn't really exists and she's trapped), as well as selling her basic equipment and items.
- Level 2: To exit the Deadzone and enter Braveshire, the protagonist must prove her bravery by eliminating a dangerous pest that threatens the town, not just rats or roaches, but venomous Sand Worms (Complete with penis joke). Once inside, most of the south and center island are open for her, but the guardians keep her from reaching those yet on the basis on her not been strong enough. To pass to the Weedwood plains, she must retrieve a rare metallic ore from the small cliff jungle north town.
- Level 3: To advance to level 4, the protagonist&co.must capture alive the Island King, a fierce creature living in the cave, and get it caged to the town.
Level 4: The legendary site is not what it used to be, and it's plagued with many dangers. The party must retrieve some ancient and seemingly useless documents written in an ancient language before facing the Last of the Krakens, a guardian determined to avenge its brothers.
- Level 5: Upon knowing about the old shipwreck of S.S. Roserhyma, the protagonist wants to go there and see if there's another way to escape the island, alone. Ruthless spectral buccaneers ambush her there and she must defeat their leader to get out of the ship. She didn't left empty-handed, getting a diary on how to escape the island through the Gate.
- Level 6: Believing the Gate refers to Heroes Gate, she goes with her party to Mount Silverrock. There she finds the hilt of an ancient weapon, destroyed long ago, but whose spirit remains within. The entrance crumbles, sho they must exit through the waterfall.
- Level 7: Crossing the Skull Leaf forest is needed to be proven worthy of entering the Temple. A tribe of pygmies guard the exit, killing whoever dares to approach the sacred building, and escaping the webs of the Arachnid Countess.
- Level 8: To exit the Temple of Ocean's Light with the Ocean Cutlass, the party must confront the planar projections of Poseidon and Aeolus, summoned by the dreaded Ocean Wizard, which happened to be the Hermit. He wanted them to become stronger so they could slain the evil demon who banished the Island from reality.
- (Between) Once in the power of the Ocean Cutlass, the Town's Blacksmith offers to empower the weapon using the stuff the protagonist and the party gathered during the adventure. The instructions from Fort Kraken, the ore to make the alloy, the hilt from the mountain, the spiderweb from the jungle and the Ocean Cutlass, templed in the blood of the Island King. Then, they give you the Sword of Seven, the only weapon who can finish the demon.
- Level 9: In Death's gate, the heroic party has to fight and defeat the Arch-demon cursing the island. There, the protagonist must choose to stay with her friends and live hundreds of new adventures, or return back to her former life.

How was it?

Clap clap clap. Well done. I really how the hero believes that Heroes Gate is the way out, how each level adds to the building of the weapon, and the choice at the end.
