So, I drew a Dragon Age comic based on an AU *RoosterBlue and I have been RPing. Young mage!Garrett and young Leto grew up together--Garrett visiting the Tevinter Imperium with his father when he was younger, perhaps even getting some training there to hone his skills once it was discovered he displayed magical ability.

Garrett insists himself on the young slave boy, and they play together, grow up together, fall in love. Garrett bonds with Leto, forming a deep connection.

After Malcolm dies, the boys are separated. Leto eventually receives the lyrium markings on his skin (the event also causes his hair to go white) and loses his memory. He is now Fenris. Once he escapes from Danarius, he symbolically cuts his hair.

Many years later...fate brings Garrett and Fenris together again in Kirkwall.
