Description wow...can I tell you how much I hated drawing his glasses? They're not complex or anything, but straight lines (let alone CIRCULAR ONES!) are not my forte. i see also that I have made them too small for his face.

Oh well, off to Lenscrafters for Albus!

Based on a pic of Richard Harris. No offense new dumbledore, but YOU SUCK! You have not twinkled ONCE! grrrrr He is sooo not the dumbledore in my mind. (but I wuv you, Harrisdumbley!!)

He IS more gay, but not in a good way. Plus, he came off as really small. I don't know if its fanfiction polluting my brain, but wasn't Dumbles supposed to be like...7 feet tall? Gambon could play Flitwick!

Right you are-he is small...But I like his long fingers/canon/...But dislike that his face doesn`t remind me the authentic D./in novels/.Oh where is the perfect D.?

Thanks! I've learned a lot about lights and darks since then, so I'm tempted to re-draw it, and make it more ... contrasted. Other than that, I"m pretty happy with it!

Oh well, that's what learning's all about eh?

WHEEEEEE!!!! I was waiting for a submission for this contest from you! I love it - the wrinkles are very detailed. Great work!

And I agree completely with you. I do like Michael Gambon, and he had a few moments in PoA, but he's nothing compared to Richard Harris. He was way better. And like you said - HE TWINKLED!!!!

almaxaquotal [2006-06-05 08:09:44 +0000 UTC]

awwww hes great!!! *don't kill me* but I kinda like the new Dumbly But I sitll think it should be been Sir Ian from the start - then I would have had just one extra reason to absolutely obsess over HP lol but I guess one wizard is enough for any actor in a lifetime

tripperfunster In reply to almaxaquotal [2006-06-05 14:22:06 +0000 UTC]

almaxaquotal In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-06 00:25:21 +0000 UTC]

hehehehe yeah... maybe I'll just draw Ian as Dumbledore... altho I do love Gandalf the White, if I were to draw wizard Ian at any stage... or maybe I'll draw young Ian as another character... young Dumbledore? hahaha oh yeah, I really love Ian in case you hadn't already figured that out....

tripperfunster In reply to almaxaquotal [2006-06-06 03:49:32 +0000 UTC]

I really hate to show my horrendous geekiness here, but it's GANDOLPH THE GREY!

(I never did get that, but I'm pretty sure that's right.) I"m not a raving LOTR fan...I'm not smart enough! HP is more my speed!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

almaxaquotal In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-06 05:27:33 +0000 UTC]

what?! you've confused me now, lol becos I am a pretty big probably at one stage raving lotr fan and I wasn't aware of an alternate spelling to Gandalf, or that there was any dispute that he was (eventually) the white wizard?! Gandalf the White is the sleek, sexy manifestation of Gandalf, not the travelling hobo Gandalf the Grey

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tripperfunster In reply to almaxaquotal [2006-06-06 12:12:21 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm the spelling thing is probably just my retardation...Gandolph heehee probably confused with RUDOLPH! bwahahaha..although I'm pretty sure he's grey, not white....cumon..there must be some LOTR geek out there that knows...Hold on...I'll ask Martinaem...she's a self professed geek.

almaxaquotal In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-06 12:44:11 +0000 UTC]

cmon you its a TRILOGY - you gotta read [watch] past the first one!! He starts out Gandalf the Grey, then he 'dies' and is 'reborn' as Gandalf the White as Saruman the White is a disgrace to the name of Wizard and gets kicked out so Gandalf is now top of the order.

Nope...doesn't ring a bell. the third book/movie kind of lost me. Loved the Hobbit though..and the first two books. sorry, too I"m too dumb.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

almaxaquotal In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-07 01:18:22 +0000 UTC]

That happens in the second one never mind, I think the books would have lost me too if I hadnt seen the first movie when I read them. It took me a few months to work my way through the third one but it was worth it - I cried for like 5 hours when I finished it XXDDD

CanonFodder [2006-06-05 01:42:54 +0000 UTC]

He's lovely!!! Those eyes are absolutely perfect - twinkly and wrinkly! And his hair and hands worked out really well too! Drawing glasses sucks, completely! But you did them well & the shadows underneath make them look nice and realistic

Richard Harris was *perfect* as Dumbledore...the new one (Michael Gambon) looks pissed off most of the time...and a bit scruffy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tripperfunster In reply to CanonFodder [2006-06-05 02:50:28 +0000 UTC]

thanks hon!

the new dumbledore looks like he was out on a binge the previous night! All baggy eyed and glazed. *sniff* no twinkles. plus, he's supposed to be tall, but they don't make him much taller than Harry for God's sake!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CanonFodder In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-05 03:54:22 +0000 UTC]

AND he ties his beard up - that's just wrong *pout* - definitely miscast - I think even Ian McKellan would have worked better!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tripperfunster In reply to CanonFodder [2006-06-05 06:10:31 +0000 UTC]

Is that Gandolph? I think he refused the role...had been a wizard too much already. Plus, he's gay, and god knows there are no gay wizards!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CanonFodder In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-05 06:28:05 +0000 UTC]

Yup that's he - he was an excellent Gandalf....you're right though...wouldn't want any gay wizards in the wizarding world...that would just be hot....I mean wrong

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tripperfunster In reply to CanonFodder [2006-06-05 06:58:38 +0000 UTC]

Well....I dunno how 'hot' a gay dumbly would be....but hmm....who else might be hot? who else.....

CanonFodder In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-05 07:21:06 +0000 UTC]

Oh go on - Ian McKellan's too cute! The beard would be a bit off-putting though...tangly you know.

Nup..can't think of *anyone* else who'd be hot AND gay...they're all such rampant heterosexuals...what with the long hair, and skirts and stuff...

tripperfunster In reply to CanonFodder [2006-06-05 14:25:58 +0000 UTC]

No kidding! Long hair, FLOWING skirts, FLICK AND SWISH, BABY! We won't even talk about 'riding the broom stick'! How about the floo network? sounds even more manly than Lifetime" the women's tv channel! :LMAO:

Two words....Pimp Cane!

CanonFodder In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-05 15:33:58 +0000 UTC]

Don't forget a penchant for soft fabrics, leather boots and generally surrounding themselves with an overabundance of long pointy things (wands, turrets, trains.....and of course the Pimp Cane!). Yup - the wizarding world's future is safe in the hands of these virile, manly men (and boys) who'll all settle down with lovely wives and raise lovely families after the war is over....

(Have I thought too hard about this? Should I be going to bed now? )

Let's also not forget, that although there are many, many girl students, Harry is friends with only one, as is Draco....coincidence? I think not! (hermione = beard)

CanonFodder In reply to tripperfunster [2006-06-06 02:06:15 +0000 UTC]

Hell yes - and if the shoe fits, Pansy dearest...! And just what exactly *are* Crabbe and Goyle always hanging around Draco for hmm? It can't be because he's such pleasant company. As for Ron, he seems just a little too interested in dress robes...if you know what I mean

tripperfunster In reply to CanonFodder [2006-06-06 03:46:32 +0000 UTC]

But your pic is so gorgeous, this old wrinkled face with the young eyes - the glasses are not relevant, but also ok. Great work - did expect nothing else.
