A minute or so after I shot this the clouds covered the sun and the moment was gone, so glad I got to this water before it did.

Image captured in Steinsvik, Troms, Northern Norway.
Nikon D810, 15mm.

great work Trichardsen! it appears you have some skillz!!  nice camera too-   I'm sort of just getting my feet wet in DSLR had purchased a D7200, a bit of learning curve, but getting there-  for your long exposures, if you dont mind me asking, what are you using for a tripod?  (I suspect you have a few.)

Thank you very much.

Nice!
It is a bit of a learning curve yes, but the basics like f/stop, iso, shutterspeed, metering and such, once you got that it quickly get easier, in the beginning is where you make the really big leaps, so keep at it.

Right now I actually only have one, I sold one to a friend of mine who had a really poor quality tripod, I am using a Sirui R-4203 heavy duty carbon fiber tripod with Really right stuff BH55 ballhead w/L-bracket.
It is easy to underrestimate the value of a good tripod, it can be like night and day, as an example with my old tripod the camera shakes would be visible at 1/250th of a second with the Zeiss 135mm f/2, with the Sirui I only barely see it at 1/30th, big difference.
Invest in a strong Carbon fiber tripod (without a center column is better) and a good ballhead, even if it might be a bit heavy, start with that and if you see the need later on buy a travel tripod for those longer walks.

You must visit some day, the North Shore of Lake Superior. I spent my
first 10 years along a  shoreline like this... I just don't remember it as beautiful
as this photo ~ but IT IS ~ I just didn't have my 35mm camera yet!!!

Oh Lake Superior, I have seen a few images from there, it looks amazing, and with some patience and the right light I am sure one can get away with some memorable images.

Beautiful shot. I love the texture of the rock, with the layers. I also love the colour the lichen gives to the bolder.

Another great capture! I think it's funny that, because of the perspective, the forground is just as high as the mountains in the backround.^^

Trichardsen In reply to eegariM [2016-05-11 04:09:10 +0000 UTC]

Thank you kindly.

Yeah, an ultrawide lens really exaggerates the foreground, making it a lot bigger than it normally would appear, it is a lot of fun doing so with such a lens.
