It was made in Japan. I remember watching it in Japanese as a teen. The main star was voiced by my favorite voice actress: Megumi Hayashibara

While a lot of anime share a style, anime is simply Japanese Animation. So it can be any style.
I love anime that look western..

Inspector Gadget is one of those cartoons actually that doesn't anime but it is similar style now I think about it and the parts are created in Japan.

Japanese animator + Other country's writer and designer = win!
Alfred J. Kwak and Moomings are good example!

To the Japanese, any "animΔshon" counts as anime. That includes non-japasese bodies of work such as:
-Disney Animation Canon
-Spongebob Squarepants
-The Land Before Time series
-Etc.

Do you also support American cartoons that look like anime? I've seen one of those characters before.

Some of them!
I like the show, as long as it's well done.
Teen Titans and Avatar: The Last Airbender come to mind.....

Of course I have!
I absolutely LOVED Ratigan's character....he was absolutely, menacingly charming!
....as for Nimh, I've only seen it twice (and quite a LOOOOOONG time ago too). The most memorable character for me (at the time, anyway) was Jeremy....with his hilarious allergy to cats and obsession with "sparkly things".
To tell you the truth, however, the only reason why I haven't seen NIMH more is because (like most of Bluth's films) it spooked me pretty badly when I was little.....the dark atmosphere, creepy character designs, and scenes of rats being stabbed by needles come to mind.
BURR!
>.<

Ratigan was an amazing villain! Yuush!
Yeah, Bluth's films are normally very dark....I guess it's his style?
UGH.
Don't even talk to me about Ralph Bakshi. The only film I've seen of his was "Cool World", and I intend to keep it that way.
The last thing I need is to be "force fed" films about cartoon characters having sex, and animated cats "jacking off".
Good god.
I mean.....have you ever actually met a Ralph Bakshi fan?
The one's I've met normally talk in a really creepy perverted voice about how great his work is and such.
-_-;;;
I have yet to meet a fan of his work, that hasn't terrified me to the point of flee.

Toonfreak In reply to BenjaminPenny [2009-11-09 03:18:01 +0000 UTC]
YUP! How did you guess?
^x^
Even though the great Frank and Ollie DID work on Little Nemo, they had to go to Japan to do so!
It is (believe it of not) classified as an anime film!
O.o

Toonfreak In reply to BenjaminPenny [2009-11-09 03:37:53 +0000 UTC]
Well actually......
He was scheduled to work with the original team on it in 1982 and 1983, but (supposedly) stuff got in the way, and he decided to quit the project before it was completed in 1989.
It is interesting however, if you like the film, here's an original completely finished test sequence of the movie that never made it into the final production. You can see how Nemo's design changed too!----> [link]

Yeah....sorry the Miyazaki rumor isn't true.....(He was SO CLOSE to working on it too!!! DRAT!!)
XD
A similar, scene was put in the film, but the character flying on the airplane and some of those awesome water shots were cut out completely.
His eyes were a bit smaller and more "anime like" in this particular pilot.
...also, there's no Icarus!
Me loves ze' flying squirrel!!!
(even though he wasn't in the original comic by Winsor McCay)

BenjaminPenny In reply to Toonfreak [2009-11-09 04:20:23 +0000 UTC]
Oh man, if Icarus had never been introduced, I would be very saddened :/
Honestly, although I recognize him as a master, I was never an enormous fan of Miyazaki (just not quite my type of storyteller )
Just an FYI here, my favorite animated movie is actually The Great Mouse Detective, followed closely by The Secret of NIMH (referred to as TSONfrom here on). Interestingly enough, (you probably already know all of what Im about to say, but what the heck ) Don Bluth, who did TSON, used to work at Disney until he'd had it with the post war slack in their animation. He went out to do his own stuff, (one of them was a full length animated movie he and his friends made in his garage ) and somehow got on with doing TSON. When it was released, it directly targeted the mediocrity in recent animations by Disney, and demanded the high quality of animation as a new standard for animated films. The Great Mouse Detective was literally

All of the stamps with copyright pictures in them (like this one) eventually get put up in my scraps section anyway......

Unfortunately, I've only been privileged enough to see one episode of Alfred.
His episodes are quite difficult to come by these days......
I do prefer anime made in the 80's and 90's.
Some really wonderful shows got released during that time!

It showed here in 1990 through 1996 and they counted i guess 26 episodes but was dropped by badly hybrid 90's cartoons (As the awful Mot where it was the first cartoon i watched who deserve to be treated as you know... Crap!)
