Here she is, the dreaded Mare in the Moon -- Nightmare Moon!Finished and colored on RooCam LIVE! Thanks to everyone who stopped by. I had a great time and I hope you did, too.
Frith save me, but I've become addicted to that new My Little Pony series, and this character is currently my favorite.
Ah, but this is not the last you'll see of the Dark Princess of Equestria. This is a preliminary drawing for a couple of other pieces I have in mind. So stay tuned to this DA channel for further updates! *brohoof*

If there was a battle between Nightmare Moon and Corset from Panty and Stocking, my money's on Nightmare Moon.

Very cool, man! You captured the essence of Nightmare Moon quite well here. I liked her in the pilot. She really had a Maleficent vibe going on about her. She was frighteningly beautiful and graceful, had immense power that was on par with or possibly stronger than her sister, had a pitch-black sense of humor, and of course, she was deliciously evil. I especially loved the part in the pilot when she yells to Celestia's charging gaurds, "Stand back, you FOALS!" before showing off some of her raw power. Hell, all she needed was to be voiced by Susan Blakeslee (you play Kingdom Hearts, right?) and transform into a dragon for the epic climax. Bottom line, Nightmare Moon is perhaps the best new TV villain of this decade (so far), and it would be awesome if Lauren Faust could make a character like her for the next season. And, again, cool work you did here.

The mane and tail just make this pic that much more awesome. Most fanpics cant seem to quite get the living night sky cut-out effect going on.

The mane and tail were the trickiest to figure out, but in the end very simple to create (in Photoshop 5): I used a solid blue background and a white splatter brush for the stars. I then applied a Gaussian Blur to the edges.

It's good to know that there's still some interest in The Wicked Mare of Darkness, much as I love the sweet "little" Princess Luna. To be fair, NM had plenty of character development where PL only had a few words and some tears to keep from being stuffed back in the moon.
Anyway, your take on her is lovely. She looks very assertive with that straight-up posture, and the wings up certainly add to the effect. (The curves and sharp ends make me think of bat wings, which I'm guessing was your intent.

As for the color of NM's mouth it, like most of the rest of her, was sampled from frame grabs and wallpapers released by the production company. And I think the shape of her mouth looks a little weird, too. I'll probably fix that in future versions of this drawing.

Whatever you do to the mouth, the fact that she seems to be talking is a big positive, in my opinion. Now that you mention it, the contrast of that color does seem more like it would be promotional artwork.
