Description From one of the last races this year. Real low autumn sun gave me alot of unusual shadows. Very fun.

I'm not a fan of racing, but this is an amazing shot. The motion and power that you've captured are really intense.

Me neither. Allthough I think there might ba a diffrence between our countries and the magnitude of the racing.

In sweden there is not much money to be made racing, If you win the swedish cup youd score a thousand bucks. That is hardly enough to cover the expense of vetrinarians, food, insurance, travel and so on.

I think thats is a good thing, that takes away those in it for cash, and leave us who love the dogs and do it for fun.

I think its scary when you can make money of it. Just makes it bad for everyone.

Yes, once money becomes involved all kinds of things turn ugly. But if dogs are raced because of a love for the dog and their ability, that is a much better situation.

Thank you for that very nice critiqe.
No, it was from the last race of the season on the track near me, so Lord Wincent is the leader, the others I dont know the names of.

I got the black and white grey, and also since a month back a greyhound scotish deerhound-mix.

Great capture!

What gear are you using on this shot?

Would love to know if what ive got might be worth heading to a track with.

First off: Thank you for diggin' my shot and telling me!

I use a Nikon D300 with the old but close to superb Nikkor 400/3.5 AiS.

I stick those two on a tripod and wait for the moment. (Witch passes rather quickly).

Before I got the 400mm lens i tried with a 105mm macro lens. To me that is too short.

You want to get shutterspeeds around 1/800. I usualy go for no less than that. Normaly a step or two faster.
Main thing, plan the shot with how the light falls and how shadow works, and pray that the dogs go somewhere close to where you're aiming.

Awesome, thanks for the advice

Ill just have to go and give it a shot with my Canon 70-200 f4L. It might just be long enough provided I can setup in a good spot.

Yeah. I go by manual fokus, never did try the af.

If you go manual, pick a spot on the ground to fokus on and wait for the moment
