Haha same here, well the greyhound is quiet enough, but I just got a rescue dog from ireland. Scottish Deerhound/greyhound mix. he's a year old and just found a noisy toy.

Acctually ours hardly ever fart. And seldom its the imfamous gas of the sighthound.

We've given her a few different brands of food too.
Another one we had before I used to say was dead inside. Maaan. Her farts could peel paint!

incredible!! i have a greyhound too, theyre wonderful dogs
what kind of lens did you use for this?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

thetebe In reply to cbalboni627 [2011-01-12 19:04:51 +0000 UTC]

The rather superb but slightly elderly Nikkor 400 F/3.5 AiS. Really a lovely lens.
No AF though. But then you get it for a fith of the price of the new one with AF so.
Besides, I only use manual focus on all my lenses so I dont know what im missing.

Really good lens. Soft and nice bokkeh. Apparently its even better wide open than F/5.6.

If you can find one, get it.
And team it up with the Nikkor TC-301 X2 teleconverter. Gives you a really good 800/7.1 lens.

All of my running greyhounds is shot with the 400 on my Nikon D300.
(wow. Long answer - thank you for diggin my shot mate).

thetebe In reply to heterozygous23 [2010-10-24 07:41:50 +0000 UTC]

Well, the training is for me.

And that is photog. alot of fast dogs. Get to know how fast a shutter i need to freeze them, and how high ISO i can use without destroying the super-fine details.

And the most part is REALLY KNOWING THE LENS.
Since i use manual fokus i need to know exactly how fast it moves to that i can find and capture a dog in that speed.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

heterozygous23 In reply to thetebe [2010-10-24 08:29:16 +0000 UTC]

Oh dang. Manual focus takes skill dude. I only use manual for my lens if the object i'm takin a picture of isn't moving haha.

But yeah I totally know what you mean! I had to take pictures of sports games and it really does take practice to learn exactly what setting the camera should be on for the best results.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

thetebe In reply to heterozygous23 [2010-10-24 09:21:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah man. I shot everything, part from my Tokina 11-16 wide angle with manual focus, so I keep my eyes sharp with all that work.
I do love it though.

The tougher it is the more fun it is, it seems. haha.

cool I would like to be that awesome too XD some day the force will be strong in me too XD ahah, my dad's a photografer, and he never wants to help, he always just say: "put it on manuel and learn it yourself" heh but, it kinda works, but I have to be lucky if I'm shooting the dogs, my horse bearly moves if I show him my camera, he just knows : "if I pose, I know she'll give me love.. and carrots "

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

thetebe In reply to Ttullamore [2010-02-22 22:43:59 +0000 UTC]

Haha your dad is right of course. But critiqe is wery useful aswell.
When I shot Tira i set focus where I know she'll pass and pray for the best. Only way to do it.

But for this image, i didnt. So this might be the exception that prove the rule?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ttullamore In reply to thetebe [2010-02-23 08:51:41 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, I try to do that as well, but my whippet just lures the playground to random places, and when I move the camera and refocus, of course the turn to the where I had my focus at first very annoying
