Description
Avians take easily to dramatic battlecries. Despite their huggable size, as a race Avians are one of the biggest threats to other nations. They have the numbers, strategy, and viciousness to slaughter their enemies in battle, and the beauracratic intelligence to bury their enemies in paperwork afterword. The running joke in the Archipelago is that the only reason the Avians haven't wiped out all competing humanoid races is that they like tall women. They're sort of what you'd get if you combined Aztec bloodlust with French style, with a little Hobbit joie de vivre. I'll just let you sit and try to imagine that combination. It's actually called a skull bird. Its 'beak' extends up along and past its face to form a helmet. They make horrible screaming noises and are generally creepy creatures, so some entertainers paint skull patterns on their chests and use them in carnival haunted houses for atmosphere. Kor owns a few which he rents out sometimes.

It's rather easy to imagine. How is Kor seeing throught that mask?

It's made from a thin gauze stretched over a light weight metal frame. From a distance, the mask looks solid, but right on his face the gauze is thin enough for Kor to see through it, though things are a little blurred.

I think that's one of the best compliments Snow's received. Prof Screweye is probably another one of those instances of characters from my childhood slipping into my stories through the back door.
