I enjoyed the movie, but I feel it could of given more into the books, like the Harry Potter movies with the books

Totally true. The movie totally butchered the book canonΒ

Maybe the movie was trying to be it's own canon?

I'll give the movie this: It looked amazing. The animation was terrific, I loved the music, and I loved the look of the world, especially with the Great Tree. Even though nearly all of the characters were nothing like their book counterparts (Digger, Twilight, Ezylryb to a point, etc) I still liked them. I even admit that I like the movie version of Kludd more then the books. Don't hate me, I just like that he became a villain overtime rather then just being born evil.
Still, I can't deny that the books are better in every way. Everything is more consistent (although if you look closely, some of the characters keep changing owl species. Grank was originally a Whiskered Screech, but then he became a Spotted owl), better executed, and the darkness, grit, and violence actually worked in the story's favor. Something the movie severely lacked to make it more kid friendly.Β
Overall, I love both. They both have their good and bad points, and I'm still sad that the movie won't be getting a sequel.

Same, I love the books better too.
I do love the movie mostly because of the graphics, but the fact they changed the plot did kind of ruin it.

I loved the movie, but this is probably because I never read the books. I'm curious, what's the books are like?

I liked the movie, but they where way of from the movie. The thing that bothers me most is twilight. They changed his personality COMPLEATLY. But, other than that and some other stuff, The movie was good.
Still like the books more though.

I personally agree, the movie is so different than the books, but I LOVED the animation! It was so amazing I think it made up for the total change. . . eh, not that much.
but that is just my opinion

I liked the movie when I first watched it, but now that I read the first book of the series (and yes, I'm only on the one book) I watched the movie again and I'm just like, "....What?" They totally messed up the movie. LetsΒ Erin HunterΒ gets a more matureΒ movie company for the Warrior Cats movie andΒ not like *cough* DISNEY *cough*.... Β

That's exactly how I feel! My sister doesn't, though. She stubbornly believes that the movie was made first. *shrug* Oh well. To each their own.

The animation was good but they did change a lot for younger audiences like they could never show kludd pushing soren, when I first watched the movie I thought it was the best thing ever but now that I've read the books, THE MOVIE WAS EVIL Β Β

What I hated the most was the way that changed Soren and Gyfie's personalities.
In the books, Soren was the one who was scared and upset, not Gylfie. Gylfie was pretty calm, and she was the one who figured everything out and gave comfort to Soren, AND EVEN FIGURED OUT THEY NEEDED TO ACT MOON BLINKED. SOREN DID NONE OF THAT. Instead they took Gylfie and made her the scared one and Soren the one to figure everything out. That enraged me because I cannot stand Soren at all (Sorry, but hes a gary-stu) and Gylfie was my favorite character.
However, I will say one thing in this movie's defense. They HAD to dumb it down. It was always planned to be a children's movie, people! See this part of the trailer?Β www.youtube.com/watch?feature=β¦
That was cut from the movie.
I read somewhere that in the Β "Art of" book for this movie, they had to take it out because it was too dark for a kid movie. It was after Soren and Gylfie escaped St.Aegolius (And I think Twilight and Digger were going to be with them too, not sure on that though) and they returned to Soren's home to find his parents. But all they found was his hollow burned and his parents dead. Yeah, remember that scene from the books? That was going to be in the movie (Albeit tweaked a little bit, but still)
All's I'm saying is, the movie was planned to follow the books closer, but they had to cut some scenes because some elements from the books were to dark for young kids. This scene being one of them.
I know that TLK was pretty dark too, and it was a kids movie, but for some reason Warner Brothers decided not to have the parents killed in this movie. Β I don't know why, but thats that.
I will also say that, yes, they could have made it be a teen oriented movie, but honestly, if a teen had never read the books or heard of them (Or they didn't have any interest in Owls at all, as I don't think owls are a common favorite animal.), would they really want to go see a cartoonish looking (Not dissing the graphics, I think they're quiet stunning and beautiful actually) movie about Owls? My guess is no. And that wouldn't make their money back would it? So My guess is they just made it more kid friendly so that they could still put a movie out that people wanted, and still make their money back at the same time from people who weren't necessarily fans of the books but wanted to take their kids to a cutesy looking movie.
I rest my case.
P.S. Some info may be wrong in some parts. I haven't read the books in quiet some time now, but I do remember the basic storyline, and most of this is guess work.
