Description This is a tutorial on how to draw standard issue rifles, those with front-mag features. This tutorial is meant for beginners rather than intermediate or advance artists or those who already know how to draw guns/rifles well. This is an 8 easy step process and I use it as well. It really get things done quickly and efficiently, especially for those that illustrate their own comic book that involves guns.

Symbols:
-dash lines: These represent guidelines and lines you'll be erasing after you have inked your drawing.
-black solid lines: These are previous draw lines from previous step(s). Also they are lines you'll keep at the very end to ink.
-red solid line: This represent what to draw next in the new step.

Please forgive me if my wording is confusing or how the drawing or lining does not completely match each other.

(Instructions coming soon)*
1.) Draw 3 parallel lines. The outside two should be fairly apart as they will represent the main body. As for the line in the between the two, should be close to the bottom line. That will help where to begin the pistol grip and the magazine-port.

2.) From left to right, begin to draw the stock. One end should dip down at 90 degrees and curve upward about 45 degrees. Next is the body. (This is one of the most complex procedures within the steps. So don't worry if you don't get it right away but please bare with me.) Giving a little space away from where you began to draw the stock, begin to draw one line straight down, starting from the top to the mid-line. After that, draw a line perpendicular to the line you just draw along the top line. That will represent the top of the body. From there draw another line downward from the top line (still perpendicular to the top line you just drew) but stop approximately 2/3 the way down. From there, angle inward towards the recent line you draw at the beginning of step 2 until you touch the mid-line. This will represent where the barrel will extend outward. After that, angle outward and pass the third line slightly and then stop. Angle back in and curve back towards the third line, this is the magazinge port. Now draw a line along the third line inward, about 1/3 of the rifle's body length. From there, connect the remain open section with the pistol grip.

3.) Now lets add a few details. Finish drawing the stock and if you like, add the handle that helps extend the stock. Now draw two paralell lines between the stock and the body. This is the extension bar for the stock. Now add a finger guard connecting between the pistol grip and the mag port. Now lets begin the barrel. Add a rectangle extending outward from the rifle's body.

4.) Now taking about 5/6 of the rectangle you drew in step 5, draw a bigger rectangle around it. This will represent the handguard. For the remaining portion of the rectangle, draw a line straight down the middle. Now add a few more details to the body. Don't forget the fire trigger.

5.) Now add the hand railing, the magazine, and the barrel itself. There should be some sort of triangle before the barrel extends out but as if implanted into the handguard. That will represent the front iron sights.

6.) Now add the rest of the details needed on the rifle and accessories that you would like on it.

7.) Now ink your drawing and erase the guidelines.

8.) And there you have it! Your first standard issue rifle. You can now shade, scan it into your computer, color it, or just put it somewhere to keep it as a reference. This tutorial should help you draw most weapon that hvae their magazine in front of the fire trigger (Ex.: M4, M16, MP5, etc.)

I hope this was helpful and I may later in the future add more tutorials for other types of rifles/guns. I may also put up of references on how attachments should be added on to the guns (laser sights, flashlight, foregrip, suppressors, etc.)

You have permission to use this tutorial for your full benefit.
