Description And what a kooky family they are: A mabari hound, an Antivan assassin, a bunny-pig, a powerful mage with stress issues, an Orlesian bard, and a baby casteless dwarf.

Hey, aside from the dwarf, blame Bioware for the ending possibilities: In my plays with Legam, the mabari (presumably) stays, as does his romance Leliana (who I got Schmooples for) and Zevran asks to join them - and he strikes me as someone who is very, very loyal if you've earned it, so I can easily picture him remaining with the Warden for the rest of his/her days - aside from when duties/assassinations call, of course.

In regards to the dwarf casteless... He's mentioned in passing in the last chapter of Seasons of Love. Basically, Legam and Leliana found him left for dead in the Deep Roads during a darkspawn hunt, and they decided to take him in. So many people give the Warden offspring despite the fact it's hard (though, granted, not impossible) for one to sire children. So, I decided to be a bit different and represent the adoption side of children.

Haha thanks. Since Inquisition this has been retconned in my mind (I like to tweak and adapt to the lore as we learn more), but it has a soft spot still in my alternate universe headcanon.

Gosh I haven't looked at most of this fan art in years.... haha it's so weird to see styles I haven't done for ages.

Hey, we can say Leliana just values privacy and doesn't go around telling others of Jowan to keep him safe from any paparazzi or their Thedosian equivalents . I would do it this way:
- Legam and Zevran go search for the cure...
- Leliana works as the Left Hand...
- Jowan is either with the crew of Vigil's Keep or perhaps sneaked after Papa and Uncle!

TheDalishRanger In reply to Arlesienne [2016-07-05 00:16:18 +0000 UTC]

Haha, it is cute but Legam wouldn't want to bring a kid into their duties and danger. Perhaps after he's done searching for that cure, eh? Romanced non-Divine Leliana's epilogue in Tresspasser does say she essentially retires to a beach home with the Warden.

Also, respoinding here so I don't close out the other comment least I forget about it: I know it's not your aim to pressure. I just like doing vectors and don't mind updating the pack a bit if I get a chance. I'll see if I have some time within the next few weeks between work and my game.

Arlesienne In reply to TheDalishRanger [2016-07-05 10:18:51 +0000 UTC]

I bet he would not. How a spunky kid would react is another story . All those tales of a guardian figure vanishing, the youngster venturing out to find them, a reunion under the worst circumstances possible and the essential quarrel about endangering themselves... up to the point where it dawns on everybody It's Too Difficult to Go Back. The Trespasser epilogues are really witty. I can imagine Leli doing that.

Oh noes... You have just planted ideas of a Warden beach villa in my mind. With friends visiting. All the guys Legam befriended in DAO and Awakening who still leave trying to teach Jowan and OGHREN how to swim. I cannot unsee this...

Thank you so much for your kindness.

Hell, for all we know, given that my canon Inquisitor is Cadash, they might've found out about Jowan through his partnership with Leliana and his Carta connections. xD

Yeah, I really enjoyed the epilogues, great art and dialogue as I've come to expect from the series.

Hahaha the thought of drawing that villa has crossed my mind in the past... alas, I'm usually pretty lazy when it comes to rendering architecture. xD

Happy to improve a handy resource. Keep your eyes peeled for Legam; I've been replaying Origins lately (unrelated to this, but amused at the timing since I haven't played it in over a year) and between that and these comments I've been inspired to use him as the subject of my most recent coloring technique practices.

Arlesienne In reply to TheDalishRanger [2016-08-01 15:49:39 +0000 UTC]

Yes, more Legam! And your Cadash could definitely uncover some juicy stuff through Leliana .

Villas and the difficulty of creating them... Heh. I had to draw one for an interlude of my current literary commission, for the sake of not mixing up the directions as I was writing that part. Crow-inhabited villas, ugh!

Just because he's the Herald of Andraste doesn't mean he can't get information from criminals.

It's just... so many straight lines! I love looking at architecture, and oddly enough I deal with a lot of geometric shapes in my day job as a graphic designer, but I'm just really lazy about it when it comes to illustrating. I like drawing characters too much.

I've got to say I love the adoption idea. Very cute. :3
You also did a great job with the dog and the...well, I forgot what they're called but I know it's name is Schmooples (or however you spell it). I really like dog's face.

Yes!

Our furry family members consist of two fat, lazy, spoiled rotten cats. The younger one's very, VERY chatty and the old one is starting to get more vocal in her elderly age.

The younger (and fatter) one can talk for ages. It doesn't sound like any real words, but she'll meow over anything and everything. Even if you're just walking past her.

TheDalishRanger In reply to CocomoLizzy [2010-03-04 03:32:29 +0000 UTC]

She's an awesome cat - pretty friendly (both are) and affectionate... She loves sitting on our chests when we're on the couch/recliners. She's also a huge pain in the butt. But I love her anyway. She's technically "my" cat, but I had to leave her at home while I was away at college, so she got attached to the rest of my family. I call her a traitor for it.

I've only done his head in this picture so far, but he was fun! Such a zany character. And it would be interesting to see him in your style!

Good to hear!

My brother's a big hockey fan, so he was a bit saddened by how the gold medal game turned out for the USA. Personally, I'm happy the Canadians won hockey on their home turf.

I'm sure I'll get to it eventually. I'm planning on some DA: O fan art anyway.

It was a great game and I'm glad that we won, it would have been devastating if we hadn't. Still, the USA has a great team and they're getting even better. Who knows, maybe your brother will see the USA win in Russia.

TheDalishRanger In reply to Enydimon [2010-03-03 06:45:42 +0000 UTC]

Awesome!

I didn't really watch it, as I'm not into hockey at all, but my mom and brother were really excited during it, even though the USA lost.

Speaking of USA vs Russia in Hockey, my belated birthday present to my brother was finally watching Miracle with him (Disney movie about the US Olympic hockey team beating the Sovients - best at the time - during the middle of the Cold War.). It's his favorite movie and he's been bagering me for years to watch it.

Enydimon In reply to TheDalishRanger [2010-03-03 07:31:55 +0000 UTC]

Hockey's alright, but I don't watch it on TV unless it's the Olympics.

That was pretty cool of you. How was it?

TheDalishRanger In reply to Enydimon [2010-03-03 07:35:12 +0000 UTC]

I just get bored watching sports, even if it's one I actually like to play. Just not very interesting if I'm not doing it, I guess.

Eh... It was okay. Not bad, but so-so. Then again, I went in biased because I really didn't want to see it because all those years of badgering me to see it constantly made me hate it on principle (unfair, I know). It's why I decided to make it his b-day gift, because I rightfully predicted it would make him ecstatic. It did, even if I wasn't particularly wowed.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Enydimon In reply to TheDalishRanger [2010-03-03 07:47:01 +0000 UTC]

I know the feeling. Sometimes you'd just rather play than just watch others.

TheDalishRanger In reply to Enydimon [2010-03-03 07:48:45 +0000 UTC]

Usually, it's the other way around for me (I'm not particularly adventurous), but with sports... Yeah, if I like them, I'd rather play than just watch.

TheDalishRanger In reply to licrydis [2010-03-02 08:01:23 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not fully non-canon. Aside from the dwarf kid, everyone's from my mage's ending. And he still succumbs to the Calling, eventually.

Bahaha! Antiva should be very afraid.

licrydis In reply to TheDalishRanger [2010-03-02 08:28:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I kept in view the dwarf kid Adoption is actually a wonderful idea considering the Warden's taint and stuff.
I can very well imagine Zevran being ridiculously awesome uncle ^^

TheDalishRanger In reply to licrydis [2010-03-02 08:48:21 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually surprised no one else thought of it. (That I've seen, at least; there's way too much fanfiction/art out there already for me to have seen it all).

He is. He passes on his ribald sense of humor, much to Leliana and Legam's mixed dismay and amusement.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

licrydis In reply to TheDalishRanger [2010-03-02 09:01:42 +0000 UTC]

From what ff&fa I have read/seen people are too absorbed in (1)romancing their chosen character and eventually getting female warden pregnant, (2)retelling various canon scenes adding more humor/drama/tragedy, (3)killing more darkspawn/evil ppl/boss creatures, (4)setting up intrigues - no place for cute kid adoption. So I find your story quite unique and appealing in a way.

Haha, I bet the kid will be the most informed 6year old in whole Ferelden

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheDalishRanger In reply to licrydis [2010-03-02 09:07:48 +0000 UTC]

I'm a tad guilty of #2 in ways though, as Seasons of Love covers Legam and Leliana's relationship through Dragon Age, so it inevitably refers to in-game events/uses some game dialogue.

Eh, most of the humor/knowledge doesn't come to him until his teen years. Not from a lack of effort on Zevran's part, but more of a concentrated effort on Leliana and Legam's parts to keep dwarf!Jowan from learning too much too soon/young.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

licrydis In reply to TheDalishRanger [2010-03-02 09:29:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't say any of mentioned story content is wrong or bad. Writing fanfiction is very tempting when the original work is emotionally engaging and at the end you have to write it about something. I just noticed that people tend to fall for rather small set or scenarios and anything truly original is an exception. E.g. I have read like 5 different stories regarding the PC-Alistair-Zevran triangle. Each of them had something unique but in general they have similar synopsis. On one hand I understand that people want to tell *their* story and it IS entertaining, on the other hand it has that 'redundant' vibe around them. But that's fanfiction, we don't make for Nobel prize ^^
