I've always got paper and pencil in the vicinity of my computer screen, so these kind of drawn-out doodles are bound to happen as I sit and marathon old Prison Break episodes. Prison Break is a terribly exciting show, so I think I'd have had fun drawing ANYTHING while watching it!
Sooooo two Gangfield pics in his 1500's "Wall" design. He's supposed to be casting a spell in the right-side pic, but I'm at a loss as to HOW to draw magic.
And bottom one is him after he fell off the back of a cart, and he's just sort of trying to a get hold on the pain by meditating or something. I was more into drawing his brandings, which are actually more like scaly indentations than tattoos. Hmmmm yummeh. 
Still working on the actual design of his brandings, so excuse inconsistencies. 
Lemme know if you guys don't wanna see any super-shadey pencil stuff from me. I know I can sometimes really mess them up then they end up looking really, well, strange.
To be honest, I'm just happy to be using my pencil again. Nothing against my stylus, but we're not the best of friends.

I was looking through some Game of Thrones art, and stopped at your drawing of John Snow. The drawing kinda had a lively feeling to it, so I had to check out your other gallery. I've studied your drawings for a few days now, and these realistic looking versions are captivating. I have tried to work out the features of my own characters for almost a year now, and your work has really given me back the inspiration that I had lost for many years. When I look at your drawings, especially the doodles, and especiallyespecially that one realistic portrait of this guy right here, I feel like he's alive. It's scary and amazing, and hugely inspiring. I used to get inspiration out of traditionally drawn animation films, but since all they produce nowadays is that computer-cra...mbles, nothing has really brought the kid-who-loved-to-draw in me back up again. Until I saw your artwork. Thank you.

I actually was pretty placid about drawing, too, until I watched The Little Mermaid again back in '09, after years and years and years of not watching it. Blew my mind.
Anyways, thank you again for your kind words. I truly hope that my pictures will be just the first of MANY OTHERS to inspire you in the very near future. Normally all you need is one little thing to open the floodgates and get you excited about drawing again and to be inspired by EVERYTHING!!!

Shading with the pencil is not a bad thing. Also, you probably won't please everyone so just do what you want to do. Haters gonna hate and everyone else will appreciate.

I like the shady pencil stuff! It's nice for a bit of variety now and then. Also, Prison Break, YES. The first two seasons especially were so good. After that it kind of... regressed. But even then it was still watchable.

Yeah, back in like 2005 or whenever it was on, I stopped watching after the second season.

Poetic, yes!Β I mean, I guess there ARE some redeeming factors to watching them, and it helps that you can binge watch to get through the rough patches and not have to wait a week (or weeks!) in between episodes, but still, that's another kind of harrowing, ha ha.

My advice is and will always be to STUDY what you wanna draw. So if you wanna draw people, study human anatomy. It takes many years to get the hang of it, but if it's something you enjoy, it won't feel awful or anything.
Never neglect the fundamentals. Good luck!

You gotta learn anatomy from the inside, out. Start with the skeleton and study it till you can draw it. Then start with the muscles of the different limbs, doing one limb at a time. If you break it up into manageable chunks, it won't be so daunting.
Check out Jack Hamm's Drawing the Head and Figure or Andrew Loomis's Figure Drawing For All It's Worth. They're both great figure drawing books that you can work through, kind of like a textbook.
