Terry is Bruce Wayne's biological son. Amanda Waller overwrote Warren McGuiness' DNA with Bruce's as part of Project: Batman Beyond, which she abandoned because she realized she could not condone the murder of Terry's family to make him like Bruce. Nevertheless, Terry ended up assuming his father's mantle anyway when Warren was murdered by Preston Powers. If you want to see the whole explanation, watch the Justice League: Unlimited Episode "Epilogue". It's the chronological ending to Batman Beyond.

I think it was a great TV series when it aired. I'm hoping there's still a little more to his story.

I particularly like that you didn't give him a mouth. I was thinking about that, and it occured to me that if they did a live-action Batman Beyond, he would kinda look like Spider-man, along the lines of his mask.
