Last January I happened to experience some great Aurora Borealis by chance. I actually went photographing the bright stars and especially the Orion, when these suddenly appeared. AND I was - to my own amazement - able to capture them with my camera too.
It was freezing (something like -25 to -30 degrees Celcius) and I didnt had a tripod so all the pics are taken with the camera laying on my mittens, which were laying on snow (yeah, my fingers were veeery cold)! Because of that, the horizon on most of the pics were several degrees off so I cropped it away from the pics.
Anyway, I'm happy to share this great nature's lightshow with you. I hope you enjoy!

You should really some to visit Finland some winter. There are some times of the year that you're almost sure to see some Northern Lights if you stay for a week or two.
