This is the first in a series of 7 or so images that I am planning to submit, so if you view this one please look for the others and view as a series before commenting. I am submitting the series as entries to the "A taste of Fetish" contest "Restrictions" also, but where are the restrictions?

This first image has floated around my mind for almost two years and not until this year's situations in my life did I see the importance of it and the rest of the series. For those who don't know, 2005 was one of my worst years, in all aspects except for photography. It included for me a DUI arrest, jail,losing license, business, my marriage and bankruptcy.

I saw the contest "Restrictions" come up a while back and really wanted to try and do something diffrent than the traditional fetish definition of restriction, ie. corsets, suspension, leather, etc. I love all of those and always will, but this year has really made me think and I want to show more with my work from here on out.

The series. Invisible Restrictions

I am attempting to convey with these images the invisible restrictions placed upon people in relationships. Some are voluntary some are not. Some start as voluntary and remain even when you don't want them anymore. They are the strongest restrictions and the most desired.

Anyone who's been in a relationship, a healthy or unhealthy one, knows of these restrictions. They are the decisions you make for the other person, or are made for you by the other person. They are the compromises. You know not to wear certain clothes because the other doesn't like you in that shirt. You lose weight because the other wants you to. You don't see certain friends because the other doesn't like them. You stay because the other one wants you too. You stay because you are afriad to leave. You restrict yourself, because you love them. They restrict you because they say they love you.
