He looks so cozy... We see them flying in summer

In the daylight? Sounds like the little guy might be sick...What happened to him?

...Gah...so cute...@.@...I want to cuddle him!

It's not uncommon to find bats alongside buildings around here--particularly in the fall (when this picture was taken). It's hard to tell from the photo, but he's tucked up in a corner and orientated properly. Unfortunately, there was an old spider's nest there as well, which is why he's covered in web.

Behavior isn't exactly a good indicator of rabies, but he certainly didn't show any signs of it. He also doesn't have white nose syndrome, but that's only been reported as far as W. Virginia at this point. It will probably be in Kentucky within a season or two. :/

Not uncommon? Lucky duck.

I've got to wait 'till summer to spot bats around streetlights, and even then rarely.

They're pretty easy to miss. Half of it is learning where to look. XD

Still neat that you get to see them at all.

There's a trick one can use to attract them - put a tennis ball in a long sock and swing it around your head under a streetlamp. According to my aunt, they'll swoop and dive for it. I haven't tried it myself, because I don't want to accidentally hit one...

I'm no expert, but the little guy is looking a bit rough. Was it ok?

He certainly appeared okay, though it's hard to tell with wild animals without a full examination. There was, however, an old spider's nest where he decided to perch so that might explain his ragged appearance.

I'm just glad there aren't any signs of white nose syndrome on him.

doesn't that happen in really cold conditions?

They've not figured out *what* exactly is going on yet. The most likely suspects at this point are pesticides or some previously unknown pathogen.

Wow! That's a very nice shot! I'd be a little scared to get that close XD

Guess the poor little guy couldn't find a nice dark place to find. But a wall works I guess

Yeah, admittedly that's not always the smartest thing in the world...

There's just not a lot of "dark, quiet places" around here. Houses are apparently the new trees.
