Description EDIT:
Updated picture.

The original picture was a veerryyy early concept of Anak, and I have since then made a lot of changes to her species (Toridians). See [link] for the most recent pics and description.

Also she is a Captain in some universes, and a Lieutenant Commander in others.

Other changes: Toridians now have other color varieties besides the below listed. I wrote a LOT about the colors and patterns in this huge Toridian history thing, but I will unlikely be posting it.

-----------------------------

So, here is the original alien of the species (I submitted a different one earlier 'cuz I drew it first, but he's not the first one I made up. If that makes any sense).

This is Captain Anak Kxeu L'ktoh, and she is also a "me" character, meaning she is me as an alien. And no, she is not wearing clothes in this pic, I'll do one with her uniform later.

The species comes in three basic colors (with different shades): Blue, Grey, and Gold. Blue ranges from Navy to light greyish blue (like Anak). Grey can be from an almost black to almost white. And Gold can be a light yellow to bright gold (like in the other picture) to a dark brown.

Patterns include stripes, patches, and speckles.

I hope to do a big drawing with lots of colors because they are fun lol!

I have a question that may sounds too trivial : Why do the Toridians don't have noses?

I mean, it's kinda... weird for an air-breathing, land-dwelling species that don't have a nose unlike most races in most sci-fi media.

This is actually super outdated, this is the updated Anak: [link]

They are actually sort of amphibious. Imagine a hairless goat that lives the life of a seabird lol. They technically are terrestrial but their entire life revolves around the ocean and therefore are adapted to swimming etc.

Anyway, yeah they have no nose but I sort of imagined them breathing out of their necks. I didn't draw anything because I honestly haven't decided how to solve that either. The whole breathing-eating thing is an issue if there isn't an alternative orifice from which to breath from while eating.

Canon-wise, Toridian language is twofold: they make orally manipulated sounds like we do, but they also communicate with clicks and pulses and tones through an organ in their neck/chest area. This is for communication under water. Think Weddell seals. Anyway that's kind of why I think they should breathe out of their throat, too, because that's where their other "voice" is.

Thanks for asking though

So you're saying that Toridians breathe through their permeable skin? Like frogs?

Idk yet, but that's definitely something I'm considering as a possibility.

But they're amphibians, right? Permeable skin is the only way for a Toridian to breathe air in the atmosphere if they don't have a nose.

P.S. Sorry. It took me a long time to reply this comment because I was busy with my university assignments.

Like I said, the species undergoes changes and adjustments over time, so I just haven't decided yet. And they aren't amphibians exactly, that's just an analogy. As an alien species, it doesn't follow Earth rules. It could be amphibian and mammalian at the same time, for example.

Wait a minute, Toridians are mammals and amphibians at the same time!? I'm so CONFUSED!

They're aliens! They are undefinable by earth standards. I know, it blows the mind, but that's probably how it really is.

Now THAT just looks AWESOME! Damn, I wish I could draw like that. Looks a bit like the grey aliens popular in so many scifi stories.

Reminds me a little of the Na'Vi, but it's still awesome. Did you get any inspiration from Avatar? It's still awesome.

No, I came up with these long before Avatar. I can't help it if I'm awesome and Cameron and I share a brain. lol!
(no really, even though he came up with Avatar years and years ago, I made up almost the identical species before I had even heard of any of his work. Not this species though -- different one all together. This one just happens to be a bluish color.)
