Description Desert version of the Cannibal mech.

Mech model created in Wings3d, Unwrapped in lightwave and textured in Photoshop.

The rest of the scene was created in Lightwave 9. Rendered with "digital confusion" post process.

::: QUESTION!! :::

Does anyone have any good tutorials or any specific info on using hypervoxels & emitters in Lightwave?? I wanted to add dust with some emitters but I can not get it to look the way I want. Plus I need more info on using them. I want to be able to create realistic smoke, dust ,explostions etc. I know there is a program called REAL FLOW.. but it costs way too much for my budget.

For dust you could always just load the picture into photoshop and air brush it on...

Its funny because I found out I had it a week ago after I bought a $200 set of prismacolor pens, Murphy's law I guess, oh well I still use them..

cool background, like the use of depth of field
im not sure about particle emitters, 3dsmax is kinda lacking in that department

The devil wears a desert-camo battlemech.

The scene makes the mech look pretty menacing, as though it rules this part of the desert and everyone else gives it a very wide berth.

realflow is ok for liquids, some particle effects but you're better off using something in lightwave (like emmiters and voxels) i'm not familiar with lightwave tho i know all major packages like that have some type of effects for dust etc but they can be pretty tricky..

maybe there are plugins etc for lightwave that give better results than just using the built in voxel stuff

Ahh.. I see. I know how to use the basic hypervoxel system and emitters. The problem I have is getting them to flow correctly. I had dust hypervoxels set up in this scene and they would not act the way I wanted. No mater how hard I tried they looked crappy. There has to be some way of making them behave correctly and look better. I have read everything I have in documentation for lw but it really does not help with details. I'll figure it out eventually!

yeah sometimes documentation isn't all that useful without practical examples or tutorials

Looks good! Wish I had some advice for Lightwave, but the only renderer I use is POVRay 3.6, and i'm -still- getting the hang of it

Thank you! POV ray is cool! Have you tried . Kerkythea Rendering System. It is freeware & It's pretty easy to use IMO. ---> [link]

POV ray has a much larger following. Also there it yafray too. --> [link] which is free and popular also. I like Kerkythea because you do not have to worry about a command lin interface.
