Where might mermaids make their home?

Based on the 2nd prompt of #inktober52 2021, the corals were just as interesting to figure out to fill the scenery and frame the main subjects without being distracting.

An idea I had was that of a mermaid perched on a rock at sea looking longingly back to the shore at what was her home and previous life on land, OR a mermaid held captive somewhere on land and yearning for the ocean that's beyond her reach. I eventually decided to go with a more relaxed theme here and save the melancholy for later.

Done with the use of reference, which I think greatly helped with the pose to look better and more natural.
