I am seriously hoping this is a completely new pokemon and not at all a new form of Mewtwo. Though the title of the movie "Mewtwo's Awakening" does cause me worry. e_e
You just don't tamper with mewtwo. You just...you just...DON'T.

Yep. I love all the gens. Just because I don't like one pokemon, or a couple here or there, doesn't mean I just hate the entire generation.

There seems to be a lot fo hate for this pokemon, but oh so much love for that new eeveelution that looks as ridiculous as Glaceon and Leafeon.

X3 Hey watch it. I like all the Eevee evolutions because their designs makes sense and its very lovable.
This one however tops the most WTF PKMN character design since that stupidly pointless garbage bage PKMN. And here I am thinking they learned their lesson from how failed the 5th gen is and nope they crossed that red line tarnishing Mewtwo and millions of fans like this.

Forgive me if someone already said this. When I saw the new design my first thought was: If Mewtwo is the result of an attempt to clone Mew in a lab, might this be the natural evolved form of Mew? Perhaps this new Pokemon looks like Mewtwo because Mewtwo is the clone of evolved Mew. The clones in the movie all came out looking a bit different than the originals, and Mewtwo was WAY different. This could be trying to explain why that was.
I dunno, it's been forever since I watched the first movie, but those are just my speculations. It seems like an interesting way for them to explain why a clone of Mew looks so different from it's source, as well as expanding on the character a little more.

I agree with you, Tartii. Changing Mewtwo is like making Ash's Pikachu evolve! It wouldn't be the same! I thought I was the only one who feels this way about it, and thank GOD that I'm not! I grew up loving the Gen 1 pokemon the way they look now and I don't want my childhood memories screwed up by having this piece of crap being Mewtwo's new form! It looks too feminine to me! I would feel a lot better about this "mewthree" if it were an entirely different pokemon and not a new form for Mewtwo! DON'T EVER CHANGE THE GEN 1 LEGENDARIES!!! EVER!!!

Wow, thank you! For a while there I was certain I was the only one who hated this piece of crap. I'm not a genwunner, in fact gen 1 is my least favourite gen. And I've never considered a Pokemon design to be bad. I even defended Vanillite and Trubbish from the genwunners, and Voltorb and Ditto from the newgenners. And I've been super excited for X/Y since it was announced. But this piece of filth? I don't even want to consider it a Pokemon. For the first time ever, I can say that a Pokemon's design sucks.
I'm not as upset about it as I was before, so I'll say this. If it's an entirely new Pokemon, then I'll accept it, and I won't worry about it any more. But if it's a new form or evolution of Mewtwo, then it's all fucked.

I totally agree with you on that all the way. Changing Mewtwo is like making Ash's Pikachu evolve into Raichu(not saying that I hate Raichu), and I won't approve of this if it ends up being Mewtwo's new form. It looks too FEMININE!!!! Please don't make this a new form, Game Freak! PLEASE!!!!

Y'know, part of me wants it to be a new form of Mewtwo, so that way I can refuse to EVER use that form, and never have to worry with it. ^w^

If it is a new form, I just hope the story and explanation is epic. If its a MewThree then I'm really, REALLY upset. I'd of though that door would be closed since Geovanni would find his testing lab destroyed and assume its a pointless cause, and spend his money on other endeavors, unless it's by Plasma, then maybe they experimented on MewTwo or Mew's DNA. In any case its got to be a darn good story or everyone will rage (and possibly quit) with the PokΓ©mon series.

And Gamefreak is free to tamper with Mewtwo as much as they want, considering it is their property. Why does it matter if they expand upon Mewtwo's existence in some way? It's not as if they are killing Mewtwo, just giving him a new form.
The irrationality in regards to this at the moment in the fandom is like a little kid just taking his ball and leaving because he's a little miffed. People acting as if Mewtwo is some sort of 'sacred' thing that shouldn't be touched, as well as acting as if it is 'perfect' in design in every way.
Why can't he have a new form? It's not like the Mewtwo you know no longer exists. There's just a different flavor that one can choose. It's just the series expanding on Mewtwo's existence.

I was just feeling annoyed at the time because I had just gotten away from somewhere where there was so much crazy and complaining, and it kind of influenced me. I came off as a bit of an ass.
To be honest, as much as I believe that Newtwo/Mewthree/Mewbuu/mew-whatever is a new form of Mewtwo, I kind of hope that it ends up a completely new Pokemon.
Just because seeing eventual art of all three together like a family or something would be cute. The Mew family, yo~
Mew: The flighty, childish mother
Mewtwo: The eldest child who can take things a bit too serious
NewMew: The energetic younger sibling that looks up to its older sibling and always wants to get in on things.

Because all it is is desperation for marketing. People who are fans of mewtwo are guna be pissed that they are changing a pokemon that was perfectly fine as is.
If this new thing is seperate from mewtwo, I'm sure nobody will care anymore, but as fans of mewtwo we need to rage. ;3

I don't think it's fair to really speak for an entire group like that. Mewtwo has always been one of my favorite pokemon, if not THE favorite. And I like this new form. I would have liked something a little more epic, to be honest, if they were going to give him a new form. But this one makes perfect sense. The pokemon widely accepted to be canonically the strongest psychic pokemon looks like his physically intimidating body has been traded for what appears to be more focus on Sp.Atk. I'd love to see him drop his atk to virtually nothing in favor of a maxed out sp.atk.
I for one hope it puts Mewtwo back up there as one of the strongest pokemon... as in up there with Arceus. I think it's stupid that a fat goat stuck in a ring is the strongest pokemon. I think quite the opposite of how people are reacting, I think this new Mewtwo form is suppose to be a nod to the Genwunners.

It may be just marketing, but there also could be a reasoning behind it as well.
In general, I doubt GameFreak honestly cares about the people who are angry by this. In the grand scheme of things. the 'Protectors of Mewtwo' are likely the minority when it comes to the entire Pokemon fandom in general. It's an incredibly loud and vocal minority, but it's still the minority. Compared to the target audience of the franchise and most others who would have no issue.
And you do NOT need to rage about it, because it isn't even a huge deal at all. I can understand being a bit annoyed, but to be so angry about it is something that you really need to step back on and think about. What does being angry over such a minor thing accomplish?
