Late that night, the two were standing at the edge of the pier, gazing at the raging sea. "I think I'll be ready tonight." Kureema said to her boyfriend.
He jumped in excitement "All right! Lets go!"
"No, no, no silly. Not RIGHT now. Geez! Men!" She sighed. In truth, she had been wanting him for a long time.. She just didn't want to say ‘I want to have sex now.' Geez.
There was a gunfire. Kureema jumped at the sound and glanced to her boyfriend, expecting them to exchange shocked expressions.. They didn't. Her boyfriend had been the one who got shot. He pitched forward into the sea.. his head squirting fresh blood on her.
Everything went still for a moment, slow motion.. Her boyfriend slowly falling into the sea..
Kureema stared.. Every inch on her going numb, especially her heart. It froze in shock, fear, sadness...
She was suddenly grabbed from behind. The guy who grabbed her spun her around to face him. She stared at him lifelessly. He plunged a knife into her stomach. Her eyes widened slightly. He pulled the knife out and pushed her into the sea..

Kureema opened her eyes just in time to hit water. She was going to get to see her boyfriend again...
There was no hope of survival. She was going to die. There was little time to struggle against the sea before it overtook hear and pulled her under. As the moon got blurrier and darker, she saw her boyfriend in the dark depths..

Part 2 (out of the whole story.. There are 3 parts..)

.. Kureema woke and it felt as though her head was spinning so fast! She squeaked when she realized she was still underwater.. And breathing. Breathing?? Did she die?
She touched her faced. It was real, no doubt. Her hands slid down her face to her neck.. Gills??? She was alive?
Her human instincts kicked in and she attempted to kick her legs.. There was one problem though. Her legs had become a fish tail. She was a mermaid.
She sat up, glancing around herself in wonder.. She was laying in a bed of freshly bloomed flowers. The water swirled strangely around her.
She realized she wasn't alone, also.
Others all around her, whispering. Muttering things about her strange hair, the flowers blooming around her, the sudden calmness of the sea..
Kureema felt so confused. What's this about her being queen?
She opened her mouth to speak and couldn't. She tried again and made some gurgling sounds
The other mermaids stared with strange, wondering faces. Kureema wanted to scream ‘help me!" about her speaking problem.....

One year later.

Kureema straightened the crown on her head. She had full control of her powers now.
She snook out of the castle and swam upwards towards the afternoon sky. When her face broke the surface, she stared longingly at the sandy beach.
People were starting to trust the oceans again. In fact, there were some brave children playing in the water, unsure parents nearby.
Kureema watched them longingly. She wanted to speak to HER parents, family, her boyfriend... they were almost engaged... She cried silently to herself.
She jumped when she realized the sea started churning around her, reacting to her emotions. She calmed it down again. She smiled.
"Yo!" Her best friend grabbed her from behind and pulled her underwater. "Are you trying to get yourself seen or something??" Toa said, nudging Kureema in the ribs. Toa was her best friend. Her hair was a natural shade of green. Most mermaids had green or sandy colored hair, making Kureema's crimson stand out greatly.
"What??"
"Since we found you with total amnesia. You hardly even knew how to breathe."
"I did too!" Kureema shrieked
"Well, you couldn't talk at all.. What's up? You look down."
"Hey, leave me alone, or I'll use my magic on you!"
"Oh! Threatening me now! I see how it is." Toa swam back towards the castle. "Oh, and hurry up and get a boyfriend! It would be nice to have a king around!"
"You know that's never gonna happen! You know I want all the power to myself!" She added that last sentence in jokingly. She didn't get along with the guys down here..
When Toa was long gone, Kureema spaced out. Her crown slipped off her head. Upon realizing that this happened, she sped downward to catch it, but it somehow remained faster than her. She got frustrated and was about to use her powers to her advantage, when the wise-woman caught it.
"Kureema..."
"I'm such a klutz!" Kureema laid her hand on the crown to take it, the wise-woman's grip got a little tighter. Kureema had an ominous feeling..
"Kureema..." The wise-woman looked at her in the eyes "Were you a human?"
