Description
In General Hospital, House was heading through the lobby. He paused as he passed by an interesting conversation.
"I'm telling you, there is something wrong with my husband! Look at him!" A woman hissed, gesturing towards a man who was simply and calmly sitting in a chair. His eyes were bloodshot. The woman continued: "He's also complained of a headache for some time now.."
"It's probably just malaria." Cuddy muttered.
"It's not-"
"Unless he's been on any islands. Has he been to any?" House interrupted, walking towards the women.
"No! He's barely left the house."
"Then it can't be malaria," House said, and glanced to Cuddy. "Me and my team'll take this case.."
Cuddy sighed. "Fine. Whatever." She turned and started to walk off.
House threw a hand up in the air. "Yes!" He paused, and raised an eyebrow. "..You aren't going to try to stop me like usual?"
"No." Cuddy said flatly, stopping and half turning.
House's head tilted a little. "Why not? That ruins half the fun.." he said in his usual sarcasm.
"That is exactly why." Cuddy muttered, turning away and leaving the room.

The wife and the husband were now alone in a hospital room, the husband resting in the bed, and the wife watching closely.
"Do you know where you are?" The wife asked softly.
"..Yes."
"Where?"
"..A.. Hospital.."
"Can you say any sentences that are more than three words?"
"..Yes."
"...Tell me you love me.." The wife said quietly.
The husband was silent for a few long moments. "I.. Love you.."
***
House and his team were in what looked like a classroom: Desks, and House's favorite portable dry-erase board. The husbands symptoms were written on the board:
Bloodshot eyes
Headache
‘Personality degeneration', as the wife had described it.
They talked about what possible diseases it could possibly be, because of a symptom the man did or didn't have. They discussed it for seemingly hours.
House sighed as they came up with nothing. "Well, lets put him on some treatment for malaria, and get some blood tests, check on his organs, and search his medical history.." Perhaps we'll find something interesting, he thought.
After the numerous tests were run, the team gathered back into the room, some reading over handwritten notes on what they found.
House walked to the front of the room. "Well?"
"Nothing common."
"Malaria treatment isn't going to have any effect.."
"Nothing relevant."
The person that scanned the man's organs was silent, looking thoughtful.
House noticed this, and pointed at him. "You, what did you find?" He asked, sounding like a teacher in his classroom.
"Ah, well.. The scans show his organs looking.. Fuzzy. I retook scans over and over, making sure he was still, but he didn't move at all. It's like his organs are.. Melting. All of them."
House looked thoughtful as he and everyone else in the rom digested what was just said.
He blinked when his pager went off. An emergency. He plucked it out of his pocket. He blinked, and looked at the others in the room. "We've got a new symptom.." He rushed out, leaving them in a shocked silence. ***
The wife was crying as her husband's puking slowed.
"Well, we put him on something to help his stomach.." House muttered.
"There was blood in it!" The wife shrieked, followed by a wail..
***
House re-entered the room, and everybody was silent. He wrote the new symptom on the board:
Black vomit.***
The wife used a wet wipe to wipe away some of the bloody puke from her husbands lips, which she placed a kiss over once clean. She pulled back to stare at the man tenderly, but then her eyes widened slightly. He was having a nosebleed.
The nosebleed started so suddenly. She touched her own lips. Blood. She grabbed a tissue and wiped away the blood before wiping away the blood that was starting to drip down his chin.
She wiped. And wiped. And wiped.. It wouldn't stop. Her eyes widened in panic.
"Ebola?"
Everyone in the room turned towards the one who had spoken.
It was obvious by their expressions who knew what Ebola was. They were a combination of blank, confused, pale, or wide eyed.
"Lets not jump to conclusions. Now if his nose were gushing blo-." House was cut off by his pager going off. He sighed and looked up at the ceiling for a moment before looking at the pager. "Aw, come on.."he muttered sarcastically, and headed out of the room again.
He returned sometime later, and wrote the newest symptom on the board. It now looked like this:
Bloodshot eyes.
Headache.
‘Personality degeneration'.
Black vomit.
Non-stop nosebleed.
The room was silent for a long period of time. "Well," House started, breaking the silence. "I'm sure we all know what we think this is." The silence was everyone's agreement.
Those who hadn't known what Ebola was knew now. House continued. "But how many times have we screwed up a diagnosis? He probably has something else. Probably a few things.."
More silence. House sank into thought. The symptoms were pointing more and more towards Ebola. But Ebola was so damn uncommon, especially where the were: In a big city in America. How the hell did he get it? Ebola appearing here would be a very bad sign.
House sighed after a while. Well, he had been wanting an interesting case. ‘Ask and ye shall receive', huh? When was God so nice?
He sighed defeatedly. "Alright.. Somebody check him for Ebola.."
***
The wife looked up as someone entered the room. She stared at the man with red eyes as fresh tears leaked from them.
"I need to do another test.." He muttered, fetching a sterile syringe. He stared at the woman's eyes. Were her eyes that red from crying?
He mentally shrugged, and wiped a spot clean on the husband's arm, and inserted the tiny needle into the sterile spot. Blood started oozing out from around the needle.
He frowned. Did he do something wrong..?
The wife watched him like a hawk as he drew the blood. He took the needle out when he had the syringe filled. Blood oozed out of the wound quicker than it was supposed to. He put some sterile gaze on the bleeding spot, put a band-aid over it, and headed out of the room.
***
House and the team were sitting in the classroom looking room, appearing bored.
An hour later, the man who left to do the tests slowly entered the room, silent as death. Everyone watched him expectantly, all breath held as they waited for either the bomb to be dropped, or the bullet dodged.
"..He's positive."
The breath was taken in even more sharply. A few people swore. Most just had a shocked ‘holy sh–' expression. The bullet hit the target. But did it hit a fatal spot?
House's pager went off. He pulled it out of his pocket, and his eyes widened. Fatal spot.
***
The wife was bawling as her husband was convulsing on the bed, which was slinging blood everywhere.
He was crashing and bleeding out. Dying.
The wife wailed in grief.
Some doctors desperately tried to help, but the husband died anyway. The wife wailed brokenly.

The wife, now widow, laid alone in bed at home. She got Ebola from her husband.
How, it is unknown. However, I'm sure we can make several guesses. She stayed there for days, waiting to die. But she didn't. She recovered.
And then learned that her neighbor died of Ebola too. She had been to Africa before.
Well, you know what they say. Karma.
