The Kazekage watched as Lee pulled floorboards up to begin digging. "Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked quietly.
"Of course, Gaara-sama! It's my duty as a shinobi to protect you!"
Gaara's lashes lowered. "Do whatever you want."

After watching hours of relentless digging, Gaara dozed off.
When he woke again, Lee had dug deep enough to not be seen.  "Lee?" he called out softly.
The sound of digging paused, and a black-haired head appeared just above the hole. "Yeah?"
"Take a break, will you? Just looking at you is making me tired."
Lee thought for a minute. "I suppose I could take a short break...What's wrong?"
Gaara looked at Lee with pained sadness. "I had to abandon my village. I don't even know if it's still in one piece. They.. They could have destroyed it when they figured out that I wasn't there.."
"Oh Gaara-sama..." Lee hopped out of the hole and pulled him into a hug.
"Kiss me.."
Lee looked in the Kazekage's sad, beautiful eyes. ..Who could object?
Lee bent down and kissed the Kazekage's soft lips.. He could feel Gaara's tension through them.
When he pulled away, Lee flushed  mumbled "I'll get some carpet and something soft to sleep on. So you don't have to sit in the dirt."
Gaara remained silent as Lee left the room. He sat still while he waited. After a few minutes, he wrapped his arms around himself, shivering as he sat in silence. His village might not even exist right now and he was just going to sit around hiding..

Lee walked into the room with a large roll of carpet and a bedroll. "G-Gaara-sama! What's wrong?"
Gaara was laying down, curled into a tight ball, shivering. He stared  up at Lee sadly, unclenching slightly.  "I'm.. Worried for my village.." he whispered softly as he slowly sat up.
Lee's eyes softened. "As soon as I put this stuff inside of there, it should be habitable. I really hate the idea of shoving the Sand village's leader in a hole, but.."
Gaara nodded. "Just hurry it up." he mumbled curtly.

As Gaara stepped off of the ladder and onto the ground inside the hole, he glanced up at Lee who was watching him before glancing around himself at his new living place.
It was.. Rather large. He could practically smell the sweat in the air from the effort of digging so much and fast.
Gaara smiled slightly as he noticed a few small things that were there to make it a bit more homey. But the room was, in essence, just a chair, small table, and a bedroll.
Gaara turned to stare back up at Lee. "It will do. Now close the entrance. Somebody is coming."

Lee's eyes widened for a moment and he complied without second thought. He stood right as somebody knocked..

Gaara stared at the darkness for a moment before lighting a small lamp as he sat down in the chair and faced the table.
After a moment of sitting in silence and staring at his surroundings, he picked up a pencil and started drawing on some paper that was beside the table..

Lee answered the door to find that the one who arrived wanted to talk to Gai. He led the man to where ever Gai was and came back to the living room, kneeling on the floor to lift the board slightly and whisper "Gaara-sama?"
Lee's eyes widened as he heard sand rushing at him and he closed his eyes, bracing himself for pain.
Though the sand itself didn't cause him any pain, him hitting the ground inside hurt a bit. He looked up and saw Gaara standing by one of the walls, staring at a picture he had drawn and tacked to it.
The board was already put back into place and footsteps were heard directly overhead. Had he been there a moment earlier, Gaara's presence probably would have been known, thanks to a Lee kneeling on the floor.
"Ah, thanks Gaa.." Lee said, trailing off as he looked at the drawing closer. The drawing was.. Well, he couldn't describe it. It was all weird shapes and symbols. It looked almost demonic. "ra..?"
Gaara was staring intently at it, with obvious concentration on his face. He looked as though he hadn't even noticed Lee, with him watching it like that.
  "Gaara? Hello?" Lee asked worriedly, sitting up while rubbing the side of his back that he landed on.
"Be quiet." Gaara said quietly, eyes not moving from the drawing.
Lee crawled closer to Gaara and whispered "What is that..?" while staring at the drawing
Gaara continued to stare at it. "He refused to tell me what it was about so I am going to figure it out..."
Lee blinked. "What?"
Gaara's gaze finally moved from the drawing, to stare at Lee. "I saw into Shukaku's mind."
