~2~ Cold
Gaara held onto Naruto as though he were the only thing he could hang onto. Maybe he was. Naruto stood in the embrace while stroking Gaara's red hair. He suddenly realized that his shoulder was getting wet. He pulled back a little to look at Gaara. The red-head was crying.
"Don't ever leave me.." Gaara said, a fresh tear falling.
"Oh, Gaara.." Naruto wiped the tear off with his hand. Naruto pulled him close again.

"It's getting cold, Gaara. We should go home.. Do you have a place to stay?"
The red-head shook his head. "Only in Suna."
"Then you could stay at my place!" The blonde said, getting excited.
Gaara smiled weakly. "Sure." The only other place he'd be staying in Konoha would be on a roof..
Naruto took Gaara's hand and headed toward his house.

When both had fully entered the room, Naruto roamed for a minute and whined "Damnit! The heater is broken again."
Gaara looked around the chilly room. "Couldn't we use that fireplace?"
Naruto's mouth fell open. He had a look on his face like he'd never thought of it. Gaara resisted the urge to laugh.
"I don't have an axe or hatchet or anything though.." Naruto said sadly.
Gaara grinned one of his famously evil grins. "That's okay. I'll be right back." He turned, and went out the door. (AN: I came so close to having him say ‘brb')
Naruto pondered what Gaara was up to. Until he heard a very loud sound of wood splitting. After many sounds of wood splintering, the door flew open. Startling Naruto. Gaara walked through the door, hands empty. Behind him, sand was carrying many chunks of wood.
"This ought to be enough.." Gaara said, as the sand threw a few chunks of wood onto the ashes.
"What the hell were you doing out there??"
"Cutting wood." He said innocently.
Naruto stared in awe. That boy was strong! "How-"
"Can you light this?" Gaara looked at Naruto.
"Uh, sure" He got a lighter out.
Of course he had a lighter. Sasuke smoked and never had his lighter with him. So Naruto decided to keep one with him. (AN: I know that they probably didn't have lighters then, but I think the Sasuke thing was funny. Also, you sasunaru people can probably detect a little bit of it in there.)
When they got the logs ignited, they both curled up with each other for warmth by the fireplace. Just because they had a fire going doesn't mean it's instantly warm.
