~5~ Sand is Helpful

Gaara sat down on a park bench. He thought maybe he could wait out his bloodlust.
He started thinking about that teacher 'Ms. Rebecca'. Yeah, she gave him a cookie, but what was that other feeling?
He decided that killing her was the solution.
He stood up.

From the moment he entered the house through the back door, the smell of blood attacked him. He followed the scent all the way up to her room. As he tentivly opened the door, the smell got stronger. He mindlessly followed it right to her bed.
She was sound asleep. The wound on her arm had just reopened, that's all. But the smell was making Gaara go nuts.
He bent down to the exposed arm and gently moved the bandage aside. He pressed his lips to the wound.
Aaahhh... the sweet taste of blood running down his throat made him get rather excited. After a while, he noticed that the blood was rather sugary, she had to've eaten some of those delicious cookies...
He drank at the wound until it sealed. Gaara pulled away. He wanted more. He gave the wound one last lick, and left the room, totally forgetting to kill her as he was so lost in the satiation of blood.
He wandered around the kitchen, stole a few cookies, and left.

There was a light tap as Gaara landed on the roof. He went over to the usual spot and curled up, feeling quite happy with the cookies in his hands.

~Morning~

Ms. Rebecca woke up even earlier than we students do for school, as she was a teacher. The first weird thing she noticed was that the bandage on her arm was loose, not even covering the wound. Second, it looked as though it were licked. The slight traces around it gave that away. Thirdly... was she missing some cookies? She must have eaten more than she thought last night.
She went out the front door, locked it, and got into the car and left for the school. Gaara looked at the sun. They should be going soon too.

Gaara sneaked into Mr Bhakah's class, hoping that he would be forgotten about.
Kankuro gave him a weary look.
Mr. Bhakah started class the moment he walked in. He went over the days lessons, and gave them work.
When most people had their work done, the classroom filled with chatter.
A few girls gathered around Gaara and Kankuro. "So," one with black hair asked "you guys came from a.. desert?"
"As in you've never seen a lot of green before?" a blonde one asked.
Kankuro looked up "Yeah, we came from a desert. But we've been in Kono-" Gaara kicked him.
"Ouch! I mean we've seen green before."
The girls looked at each other, taking in the new information. "Hey, Gaara, why is your hair red?"
Gaara thought for a second. "Because I drink a lot of blood-"
Now it was Kankuro's time to kick Gaara. "-berry tea." he added.
The two brothers sat glaring at the other, with bruised shins. Well, except for Gaara, as he had sand protecting him.
All of the girls but the black-haired one left. She said "Those are sweet bracelets."
Gaara had a ring of sand around each of his wrists. "Thanks" he said, after a pause.
She reached forward and touched one. Her hand jerked, and she pulled it back. She looked at her fingers. They were bleeding. Did the bracelet just attack her?
Gaara grinned. Her eyes widened. He knew it did. She backed off.

Mr. Bhakah couldn't seem leave Gaara alone. So of course, he asks "So Gaara, why DOES your mom let you wear eyeliner?"
Kankuro's eyes went wide as he awaited Gaara's explosive reaction.
Gaara just sat there, calm as can be. He looked at the teacher. "My mother died."
Bhakah froze. "Okay, what about 'daddy' then?"
Gaara stared at the wall. "He's dead too. I wish I was the one that killed him. Bastard."
"I'm sorry. Um, then why? Is it because your parents are dead?" Mr. Bhakah said, almost sounding worried.

"Hell no. And it's not eyeliner, It's..." He thought for a moment. How could it be described? "sort of tattooed." he finished.

Gaara practically skipped out of the classroom when the bell rang.

When Gaara on his way to the next class, he came across an interesting sight.
There were no teachers around, of course. Some kids were crowded around the black haired girl. Gaara couldn't see what they were doing, but it was obviously not nice. They were saying things like "masochism isn't human." To her. He could smell blood.. Her blood.
The smell of blood made him curious, so he approached to find out what was going on.
As Gaara approached, one turned around. Gaara saw a knife in his hand.
"What's going on?" Gaara asked while glaring.
The kids looked at each other and left. Gaara attempted to get a reply, but when he failed, he looked to the black-haired girl. The smell of blood was stronger now that he was closer.
"What happened?" Gaara asked.
She stared tearfully at the tile she was sitting on. "Being assholes." She stood up.
Gaara recalled what they were saying.. They were calling her masochistic. "What's masochism?"
She glared at him, thinking that he was gonna pick on her too. The glare was almost frightening.
"Masochism is when you enjoy pain." She spun on her heel and left.
Some people liked pain? Interesting...

When Gaara entered the gym, they were playing basketball. Kankuro told him about basketball... explaining the rules and what-not, because he had gym earlier than Gaara.
Gaara snapped out of his spacing out when a basketball came flying toward him. He caught the ball, while being scared out of his mind.
"You're pretty tough, but can you play well?" some tough-guy asked him.
"I've never played before." Gaara said, while some sand sneaked off the bracelets and onto the ball... to aid him.
Gaara pointed out that his brother told him the rules.. So they all went straight to playing..

One of his teammates tossed the ball to him, very crappy. Gaara used the unnoticed sand (it was hidden in the grooves in the ball) to help him catch it. He still had to run toward the ball, though. And almost it. He would have if the sand wasn't helping him.
Gaara turned and tossed the ball toward the hoop. He SO would have missed, if it weren't for the sand.
He made the shot, and cheers filled the room. He won his team the game. His teammates ran up to him to give him high-fives.
Gaara smiled. Basketball was fun when you had help.
