Description I have been researching some very depressing and morose things for my work, both the WWII nazi occupation comic and my research for my psychosocial work, so I needed something to get a break from that, and cheer me up.

So I cracked, and after YEARS, I drew me some fanart!

Have a cute, cuddly pic of Zuko from ATLA, probably two years or so after the series finale, with what seems to be his firstborn.

I considered aging him up more that he looks in the series, but seriously, he was what, 16-17 or so in the final episodes. People who are 19-20 can often look still 15. Especially if they are happy.

And I think Zuko's happy right now.

So despite my quick and rather lazy colouring, I am happy too, now.

I know, for me he was the bad guy you feel bad for. I was thrilled when he finally switched sides. Lol

Really? It didn't really seem like a possibility to me until book 2. I'll admit that Zuko's better nature was hinted at pretty early on all the same he was a pretty bad guy for most of book 1. And book 2 for that matter. For me it wasn't until the episode Zuko Alone that it becomes apparent that he is at heart a decent person.

Well there are several cues that can tip you off that this is where he's headed. I guess if you are also an author you know how to look for 'tells' in a character. For example, Zuko actually keeps his word on the bargain about the Avatar (while other co-villains consistently do not and general cheat/fool others) and shows assorted signs of integrity almost from day one, that become more and more frequent as the story advances. Also his design as a cartoon character implied he was designed to be a 'good guy', despite the burn mark(and let's not forget he is emotionally attached to Iroh, who IS a good guy). So I was expecting him to turn fairly early.

I noticed those things for sure, they did suggest that Zuko was a candidate for redemption though it's hard to say if that means anything early in the story. For me his signs of integrity made him seem more principled than say Admiral Zhao, but in a weird way also more threatening. I think that no matter what you conclude it suggests a pretty high standard of writing.

Oh, I agree That they didn't have him turn in the caves, was a bold and pretty realistic move, to show Zuko's motives. He WAS trying to please his father and regain his honour. It makes his actual turn that much more powerful.

Oh yeah, the caves and what came after was really telling of the character. It was made pretty clear that he'd made a huge betrayal of consciousness and even though he'd officially regained his honor he felt more disgraced than ever.
I think what the best thing about this show is how virtually every character in the main cast had a complex and well-developed arc, Zuko's being one of them.

Agreed! That's why I liked it primarily myself. (and the excellently animated fighting scenes didn't hurt either )

You haven't seen Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon at ALL!? You really should, it's one of the better made cartoons. Just DON'T watch the film 'The Last Airbender'. Because it's the exact opposite as far as both the series and movie-making in general goes.

Aw. That's cute. ^_^

In my experience, men in their 20's, if clean-shaven, quite often resemble teenagers, depending on how well they've kept their skin. My mom could pass for a high school student when she was in her 30s.

Chronological age is fixed but apparent age is highly subjective.

Exactly, I can still pass for a teenager if I really intend to, and I'm 32.

And I generally am thought to be somewhere in my twenties. When I'm off the clock anyway.

Glad you like it!

People have mistaken me for a high school student, but when I was 15, people thought I was in my 20s.

So, I'm AGELESS. ^_^
