Are you planning on coloring digitally or traditionally? If you go the digital route you'll save yourself some time by using a "color" transparency layer set around 75% (or whatever opacity seems best) and using a grain layer set at "Multiply" to keep the traditional feel (In case you didn't know about this).

I wasn't aware of that approach but I have my own ways of painting digitally.
