Oh actually I have oh how many was it Igor? Oh your right...three and fifty three sets and counting.

I mean on the scale of an Iron Man sized suit. Larger suits are already for sale and in production. Does yours have railguns?

Oh a couple things...he he..I tend to go mid-tech..combination of high-tech and low-tech together making the ultimate weapon. Instead of Active energy consuming railguns..I have Passive bullet levitating railguns.

How the **** does that work?!?

Tribble-Industries In reply to TehGodMan [2010-02-08 02:40:55 +0000 UTC]

A Passive Railgun works by using magnets and a magnetized bullet...it uses a cartridge and a shell rocket booster in the rear of the shell to increase speed when fired. A Levitating Bullet has no friction so the speed is higher than a normal rifled bullet. (The Idea comes from the new Levitating arrow launchers for bows.) However, it is possible to create rotating by alternating the magnets forcing the bullet to spin while levitating in the barrel.
No need for a massive juice power up.

Still, that puts power into the projectile. Also, it doesn't turn said projectile into a bolt of plasma going at about three hundred miles per hour for six seconds.

he he...did you not read about ionization tech and titanium shielding? They are using both to create aircraft that are capable of over Mach five to Mach ten and higher. Ionization actually pushes aside molecules lessening the friction that would make the projectile plasma. Now a what is known as a flechette is another question. If you can surround a flechette which is the fastest and most deadly of man made projectiles...a sort of supercavitating shell of sorts. The round in theory is electromagnetized depending on the plasma or ions in theory you can excede or minimized all friction related issues.

By the way who says a rail-gun needs to shoot plasma? That is a different class of weapon the plasma railgun...a gun designed to fire plasma contained or guided by electro-magnetism.
Now most rail-guns fire solid state projectiles to massive damage...or what some superweapon junkies call a kinetic strike. No need for a HE warhead...just the transfer of kinectic energy alone from a the round to the target...kills or disintegrates...if not the sudden integration and disintegration of different materials at high speeds...friction or not...can cause perfect holes or a localized explosion.

I'm talking about the already working variety that uses such high voltage that the projectile, which starts out solid, is vaporized into plasma. Big difference.

Ah...or you can just energize a mixture of volatile gases...into plasma. Using a chemical compound. But then again I don't think you want to be in an Arc Furnace that does just that...even if you got close you would vaporize...the electrodes involved get up to or higher than the temperature of the sun...try holding that in the gun! One shot would only be taken before the gun is totally "shot"

Exactly, The kind I'm talking about actually works. Takes up a ton of juice but it's soooo fun.

Yeah not exactly the most practicle weapon I have ever come across.

yeah get a new armored train for that one.

Oh really I remember last they were testing the tank cannon version of the rail gun.

The kind I'm talking about has pathetic range and power but works just fine for something that "doesn't work".

Tribble-Industries In reply to TehGodMan [2010-02-14 03:57:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but personally why use the rail gun when the discarding sabot flechet round rifles are more sucessful.

TehGodMan In reply to Tribble-Industries [2010-02-14 04:02:06 +0000 UTC]

Don't feel like doing that. Anyway, railguns are legal to own without licenses, I think. Also much cooler and terrifying.

Yes cooler only if you can carry the powerplant on your back!

What part of POWERED ARMOR do you not understand? Not too advanced or powerful, but I can carry my railgun equipment with it easily.

Ummm....I think it was the part about the "portable" fusion reactor?

TehGodMan In reply to Tribble-Industries [2010-02-15 22:03:04 +0000 UTC]

I'm talking compressed CO2 powered armor with a car battery powering the railgun. Like I said, not too powerful, and the armor just makes it so I can carry the battery and capacitor bank without falling on my face or turtling.

Tribble-Industries In reply to TehGodMan [2010-02-15 22:43:12 +0000 UTC]

CO2 eh? Explain mo-Kapitan...I am now intrigued.

TehGodMan In reply to Tribble-Industries [2010-02-19 01:31:48 +0000 UTC]

Simple valve system with pressure activated switching mechanisms. Kinda like on a backhoe but with CO2 instead of hydraulic fluid and with limit switches instead of the controls in the cab.

Tribble-Industries In reply to TehGodMan [2010-02-19 02:07:35 +0000 UTC]

Ah huh....needs major improvements in nano-hydralic actuators for that.

TehGodMan In reply to Tribble-Industries [2010-02-20 02:28:43 +0000 UTC]

No, not really; just have set limits on how far the joints can bend, namely comfortable limits for myself, and whenever I activate a switch, it extends to either the limit in the case of the legs or wherever I stop the limb, in the case of the arm. It also makes me run crazy fast when I unload the railgun...

Tribble-Industries In reply to TehGodMan [2010-02-21 13:58:19 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm...one problem...recoil of the rail gun would...blow you back if you were running...and the accuracy would be kaput.

TehGodMan In reply to Tribble-Industries [2010-02-21 19:45:03 +0000 UTC]

I said when I remove the railgun equipment. I can walk and run at a reasonable speed while it's attached, but without it the armor amplifies my motions so I have a massive stride. My normal running speed(by normal I mean how most people run) is fairly slow, but when I need to, I can move. Fast. Catapulting that much weight puts a lot of strain on the system, but I designed it to be able to do so. Just never, I mean never get between me and where I'm going unless you want a two foot hole in your torso and be in two pieces about a mile away from each other.

If I squint, it's a photo. Nice. That's something few artists can pull off well - Craig Mullins would be the best example.

Very nice work. I'd like to know where/how you learned your techniques. Is it from things like training DVDs or?

That Orange Stripe and color scheme reminds me of the Progenitors. Hope you don't mind.
