Description

ISS Acheron is the first new Devastator II class of supercarrier battleships. At over two kilometers in length, the ship is more than capable of serving both its main roles, carrying both a massive flight and hangar deck that runs through the center of the ship and holds over a thousand starfighters and other craft, and an array of heavy weapons mounted on turrets, with a thickly armored shield separating one from the other. Designed to exert total battlefield dominance over any known threat, the Devastator II is literally bristling with weapon emplacements, and thanks to its pair of Neutron reactor cores, it's able to engage multiple targets with all of its weapons at once, if need be, without losing power.

Although it's underside is relatively less defended, that's only in comparison to its topside, which is extremely well armed. Four of the eleven main cannons include the underside in their fields of fire. Should that prove not enough, the ship is equipped with a pair of heavy boosters to assist in a roll maneuver surprising for a ship its size, to bring the other seven cannons and many smaller weapons to bear.

The carrier role is served by the 2.3 km long hangar deck which runs from the launch bay on one side to the other. Splitting its compliment of fighters and other craft into two wings, it features vehicle and supply storage in the center, service bays and prep areas within the inner 'wings', and the launch and recovery systems in the two pods protruding from beneath the main armor plate. Each launch bay is able to stage and launch a maximum of 48 fighters at a time, and under ideal conditions can retrieve just as many. The majority of the launch bay's interior, particularly the final staging area, is typically without artificial gravity to reduce stress on the machinery that moves and holds the fighters into their launch positions.

Serving as the muscle of the 1st Guardian Fleet, and providing close-in fighter support to the same as it patrols the border space, the ISS Acheron is invaluable to the defense of the colony worlds. She and her sister ships Helios, Apollyon, Erebus and Ascalon are the backbone of the navy, and a nigh-insurmountable force to be reckoned with on any battlefield.

At long last, the rebuild of one of the first microscale ships I ever posted! I actually built this a long time ago, but issues with the camera I had at the time, coupled with my new camera not taking clear pictures, and also not being happy with the background, and also a LOT of procrastination saw to it that it's taken until now for me to actually get this thing posted. I do hope to overcome all that procrastination and actually get some more things posted that I've had sitting around for ages! (I even hinted at a couple of them in this description!)

I'm also interested in feedback on any part of this post. The ship, the pictures, the backdrop I made, the description, even the technical specs! I'm hoping to find ways to improve for the next uploads, so I'd like to know what anyone thinks!
