Description
My first shot that I have edited from the shoot with Matt and Jake. I was so excited to work with them and the photo's I got were amazing. I am not sure about my editing job on this one and my change some things about it, but all in all I am very pleased with this image.I wanted to do some more interesting shots of dancers, but mainly guys together as this is not really approached in traditional dance.

It's a good pose, I'm wondering though if the combination of the black backdrop and the black shorts is deliberate as I feel it does add to the feeling I am observing body segments, floating or otherwise in flight.

I was working with another person on this, and I did mention my thoughts about the black not standing out. The thing is that for traditional dance portfolio, and what the guys would usually wear would be black. I don't think a white background would have looked right. Perhaps I'll just ease up on the contrast and try and bring out the shorts a bit more. Thanks heaps for the comment!

I appreciate now your limitations given the dance portfolio issue. I saw an image not that long ago of a ballet dancer standing one foot in front of the other, wearing a petrol on water shaded pink pair of almost Speedos adopting a very simple arms extended pose to emphasise the physique in the torso against a white linen background which may also have been backlit. Overall it was a very simple sensitive image, albeit the setup was probably complex - I mention it in terms of doing some off portfolio work if the subjects wanted to experiment whilst you have them around. Hope that's food for thought. Best wishes and good luck.
