Never really considered that someday "the" Lamborghini would be a classic car <>

If it's any consolation, I feel old thinking about it too.

Also food for thought: every Chrysler K-Car is an antique now.  The last year for the Plymouth Reliant K & Dodge Aries K was 1989, twenty-five years ago.  The last AMC Eagles were 1988 models, so now everything ever made by AMC is an antique.

The first two years of the MK IV Toyota Supra are now classics, as are all Foxbody Mustangs and the entire first generation of the Mitsubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon.  The first Dodge/Plymouth Neons are only a year away from being classics.

Now if you need me, I'll be sitting here in my rocking chair, knitting...

Ugh....my first car was an 81 AMC Spirit.  Kind of a wannabe Pinto.  I remember the Fox Mustangs first coming out <> When the Mustang II was kinda lame, but was awesome in the Cobra II trim

I was kinda used to the fact that all the cars that I liked were old, it kills me that now the "new" cars I didn't like are old.

I dare you to ask a teenybopper if they'd ever seen a typewriter in real life.  I did whilst doing building maintenance for Target....It made me a little sad...

I dare you to ask a 20 year old to name a single Journey song.  Seriously, most don't even know "Don't Stop Believin'"!  I know music gets old quickly, but seriously, that one's more popular now than it was new!

Also, I like the AMC Spirit.  My first car was an '83 Celica Supra.

Music is kinda fickle that way.  It's kinda funny to hear a "new" song, and then sometime later hear the original.  With me it was It's My Life as done by No Doubt.  I didn't know it was a cover until I ended up finding the original (from the early 80's by Talk Talk) on Youtube.  Personally I think it's kinda funny how everything old is new.  Johnny Cash is the hero of the indie crowd because of some albumwork with NiN and the movie made about him.  It's a little funny to see all these new "fans" that wouldn't have been caught dead listening to anything Johnny Cash say during the Highwayman era.

But we do live in a time when Bon Jovi gets airplay on the country radio stations, and Lortta Lynn's new album (well it was new a few years ago) does not.

Heh, don't forget Def Leppard working with Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift!

Oh, and the lead singer from Air Supply (Russell Hitchcock) put out a country album too.  I sense a trend here.

Heh...so 80's rock stars are being possessed by country stars gone by.....Which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.  I like stuff from the Golden Age of country.  I am a big fan of Marty Robbins, Wanda Jackson, and Loretta Lynn.  Just so long as 80's country doesn't come back.

It just amuses me to no end that the people that squeal that Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and so for aren't "real" country (too pop) either A) Don't realize that the 1950's saw more pop/country crossover and B) Wouldn't be caught dead listening to "real" country (i.e. Hank Senior)

I like '80s country...  Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Alabama, etc.  I think I'm just biased towards the 1980s in general though.

I have a bit of the 80's bias, but I really prefer 50's-70's country.  Dad played a lot of Don Williams, early Tanya Tucker, and Marty Robbins when I was a kid (Marty Robbins gunfighter ballad album is pretty awesome)  I liked some of the 80's country, Kenny and Dolly were okay, I liked Shelly West and some Randy Travis (although I still hate that song Diggin' Up Bones after hearing it 4-5 times one day when it was topping the charts)

<>  I have wildly divergent musical tastes, and I take it on a song by song basis...

Good variety!  And I'm sure you already know this, but Marty Robbins raced NASCAR periodically.  Never had much success but I'm sure he was doing it for the fun anyway.

I have a Johnny Lightning replica of one of the cars he raced

I did know that Marty Robbins drove race cars later on.  I didn't realize it was NASCAR though, for some reason I'd thought it was one of the open wheel cars series (like Grand Prix or something)  After reading some Wikipedia on him, he actually seemed to be a successful dabbler in the sport.  I remember hearing that he'd died when I was a kid. It stuck out because El Paso was probably my favorite song then (Well, between that and Ring of Fire)

Well, NASCAR and country & western just go together like RC Cola and a Moon Pie.
