Description
The High Queen established herself as a kind of mother figure in Hilde’s life… Not in an especially nice way.
THQ wanted a foothold on power through legitimately recognized royalty. This way, she could exert influence over the regional politics long before revealing herself. Hilde’s father was already pretty devoted to the cause, but he was also an ambitious person in his own right, which was risky— he expected rewards, and was likely to make decisions in his own interest over hers if need be. This was unacceptable. THQ didn’t want an ally, she wanted a puppet. Fortunately, she has all the time in the world to bide her time, and the heir needs guidance…
Perfection and obedience are closely related, and The Queen expects both in all things.
Hella emotional abuse in this plot line, basically.
