I took this picture a very long time ago. It has been stored in my folder ' photographs ' for a very long time. The composition might be slightly cliché, so I try to avoid it most of the time. But this time I just couldn't resist it. I saw the ship coming from the port of Antwerp.

Actually I want to make a statement here. When ships want to enter Antwerp, they must sail the Westerschelde. The Westerschelde has plenty of sandbanks, and now the Westerschelde has to be deepened quite often because these people from the port of Antwerp want to give entrance to the biggest ships. This has a lot of consequences for the nature here in my beautiful province in the river delta of the Schelde. I am not a wowowowo pro nature activist. Not at all. But there are way better solutions. There are plans building an container terminals in my province. That would be a better idea because the Westerschelde doesn't have te be deepend anymore, and the ships could also go to the port of Rotterdam.

I saw the ship coming from the Westerschelde and wanted to catch it right in the middle of the to groynes. But I also wanted the water to be slightly blurred. Not being able to check properly which exposure to pick because the ship was coming quite fast I chose 10 secs @ f.22. The picture was meant to be square.
