Asterix is awesome, and I love the comic books and animated feature-films. My favourites has to be 'Asterix in Britain', 'Asterix and Cleopatra', and 'Twelve Tasks of Asterix'.

I have teh whole series [other than rose and sword or whatever it's called] in greek, coz they dont sell asterix in england unless you reeeally search for them, and my dad/aunt had most of the series from their childhood in the firstplace, and it was very easy to get the rest from local kiosks when i lived in greece.
it's so annoying how england is so much closer geographically to france than greece is, but to find french stuff generally they're easier to find in greece than england =[

Finally! A stamp for everybody's favorite Gaulish warrior. I wish he was more popular in the states. If it wasn't for French class and the movies, I might have never heard of him. Whenever I get a subscription, I'll display this stamp with pride.

Oh hell, Yes!
The Goscinny/Uderzo books are better than the recent Uderzo solo stuff though.
And 'Asterix In Britain' is the best Asterix film, with a kick ass title song thats been in my head for days:

's alright!
I had a quick read of The Falling Sky in a local libary once. Believe me when I say I wish I hadn't! Bloody awful! Worse than Asterix and the Actress!
If I wasn't such a die hard fan they would have spoilt my love for the series as a whole.
Uderzo's a really great artist, but he can't write a decent story for love nor money, and that's putting it mildly. It's all fantasy and sentimentality; he doesn't have the sparkling wit Rene Goscinny had. In fact, I've got a copy of Obelix & co next to me now, and It's great how I can enjoy it even more now as an adult (allegedly) than I think I did when I got it as a child.
When I heard that Uderzo had 'sold' the rights to Asterix earlier this year; meaning that it's possible that other people can write and illustrate his stories (presumably after his death) I'm sorry to say that I was pleased, because there's a chance, with the right writers, that the series can get back on track.
I think I like Asterix in Britain more because it was the first Asterix cartoon I saw, and unlike the latter ones, it's translated from book to film really well. (as well as it's rockin' theme tune!)
But of course, Twelve tasks is an original story! Its a close second: I saw "the place that sends you mad" section on youtube last night!
When I've finished what I'm doing at the moment, I'm going to do some Asterix fanart. I'm inspired!
