No, this is viable gear. He just needs to win a DPS race against the Destroyer. Daedalus Stormbow or Fetid Baghnakhs should do the job.

You know... That worm killed me 8+ times.
It appeard the first night just after killing the wall of flesh!
And kept appearing every 5 or 6 nights just to kill me again.
Molten armor, Cobalt armor, Mythril Armor it destroyed em all
I love that boss, it scared me, it killed me and when i finally beated it, it awarded me with its thropy wich i put on a golden wall surrounded by gold bricks.

Well of course, I was in this moment... Wasn't prepared for Destroyer yet, I was still in my Molten Armor and I mined for cobalt. Then the first hardmode night, "You feel vibrations from deep below" and I was like s**t! And I died in 3 seconds. Lol.

First night of hardmode: Hmmm, the enemies seem tougher than before... better get some better equipment. "This is going to be a terrible night"
Hmm? Never seen that message before... probably Blood Moon.. better bunker up my NPC's and take shelter in my house before something bad happens with these new mobs.

Third night of hardmode: Alright, broke some altars, mined some Palladium and planted some sunflowers at the crimson. Better make sure to build a floating island before bad stuff happens.
