Description
This is my project for the fashion/textiles rotation week for my course at uni. We interpreted the theme "current" very freely and the goal was to create some type of body ornament. After a complicated and tedious design process which lucky for you I am not going to elaborate on now, we made our final pieces, styled our models and did a "photoshoot". Though I did make all the garments in the photo, the only thing I actually made for this project is the leafy green cascading belt-type thing. It's made of an awesome paper I found at the art shop called "dragon skin". I thought it would be interesting to use something other than fabric for a change and a lot more work went into this than meets the eye--but doesn't it always .
The lovely lady in the photo is my classmate Amy, who was patient enough to let me wrap her up in loads of fabric and then stand in the middle of a field behind the campus while I ran around like a mad person taking photographs. I must say, it was a very nice change not to have to do the modelling myself.
Oh yeah and I'm thinking of moving on to a BA course in costume design next year--what do you guys think?
