Background / History:

A brilliant scientist/engineer/inventor Emil lost his legs in a terrible accident. After his initial recovery he designed and built a set of bionic legs which he had grafted t ohis body. The experience affected him dramatically, triggering a flood of ideas and designs on how he could replace more of his biological body with cybernetic/artificial ones. But this would not be a cheap undertaking. To pay for the various components and surgical procedures he began to hire out his services to various parties ti build weapons, equipment and other devices. Initially he stayed on the "right" side of the law, but as be built more an more complicated parts for his body he began taking any and all clients.

Emil has built up a reputation of providing hi-quality work at a far price. If you try and cheat him he will never take you on as a custoemr again. He occaionally take jobs in which he accumulates what he calls a 'mark of honor' in which the customer owes him a "favor" in lieu of monetary payment. He has in the past called in one of these favors to have a former customer who particularly offended him, killed.

Eventually he began simply calling himself THE ARTIFICER (shown above with one of his mechanical drone helpers)
