Vent art, sorta.Yeah here lately I've been feeling a bit down and lonely, and while I do enjoy a good rain (especially storms) there are some times it just seems to add to the depressed feeling.
Poor Nathan, just trying to get a grip and finish suffering through another lonely night, feels the tell-tale sign that things are fixing to become a lot more depressing...and wet.
Yeah sometimes I don't like "depressing/emo" pictures, but sometimes it is good therapy to express your own feelings on paper. The current situation involving a friend has left me feeling rather lonely, and well, kinda down.
The scanner shows a lot more detail and marker "marks" than I can see in real life. I thought I was blending the dark blues a bit better, but perhaps I didn't do as good a job as I thought.
I also hope the dots and stuff on Nathan, his wing and pants show as rain drops, some of which have run a little.
It was a fun piece to create all together though, and I feel like I got the right emotion across. Now I feel Nathan needs something a bit more "happy" or fun, guy deserves it for sure!

Yeah poor guy is feeling the loneliness that comes naturally when you pretty much live by yourself. He'll be alright though. I think I need to either snag Rave again from ~ShadowCheetah and chunk her into the picture, he won't have a chance to be sad then. Or grab Alix, either way, loneliness will be the last thing on his mind with either one of them. Rave for sure!
I'm doing better too, still feel kinda down at times, but it is well on it's way out the door. Aww thank you hun!

This is beautiful.
"Emo" isn't even a word for this, yes its a bit sad but definitely not "emo".
Its that sort of peaceful sad is what I'm getting out of it.
The stars in the background are like a silver lining, he may be upset now but it definitely won't last forever.

I'm glad it didn't come off as "emo" because I really rather try and steer clear of that with my characters. However, I do enjoy showing a range of emotions on my characters, and sadness is an emotion too.
That's a really cool interpretation you got out of it too! I hadn't even thought about it being a peaceful sad, but honestly that is typically how I feel when I get sad. You're completely right too, we can't have "ups" in life without the "downs" again that's cool that you were able to see that in the piece. I have to say, I hadn't thought of it from that perspective myself! Pretty neat

Oh I had a BLAST drawing his pants lol. I took a good look at how some of my favorite artists draw clothing on their characters and did my best to work out how the folds would fall. It was actually pretty fun.
