Description Scenes of a Rape.
Conceptual artwork for Titus Andronicus, WUK Dec 2006.

You might know some of these pictures (I uploaded a few on dA and they're all on my website). However, I wanted to have the whole series here.

Aaron and Tamora create a really interesting juxtaposition.

Its a play that translates easily into any time period isnt it?

These shots are very clever, they aren't gratuitus and convey the meaning strongly enough.

Tamora and her moor look detached... wrapped up in their revenge.

"Farewell, my sons; see that you make her sure.
Ne'er let my heart know merry cheer indeed
Till all the Andronici be made away.
Now will I hence to seek my lovely Moor,
And let my spleenful sons this trull deflower."

apart from the story, and actors/models lovely photography love the drama

Really well-told story, and the drama couldn't be more intense. The movement, unusual cropping, and blur all contribute to the sense of danger and fear.

God I love photostories when they're done proerply like this. That 3rd from last picture with the tall trees is really magical, placed there..

this is amazing, but i dont understand why you put that extra couple at the end of the series. they seem sort of out of place.

The two initiated the rape. I guess you need to know the play to fully understand it.

i mean this as constructive criticism- the facial expressions (particularly those of the actress) are lacking... i won't say i'd do any better myself, but i am not convinced and i do not sense the utter terror that should accompany such an experience.

for this reason the second frame is the most powerful I think.. the anonymity of an obscured face lends psychologically to the portrayal.... i think it would have done better as a stand-alone...

This is a series of really emotive shots. The actions they portray really signpost the violence and emotion of such an action.

Interesting concept, somehow the not so saturated tone makes the concept feels more 'like' a real rape.

this really does tell a story very well, and its not overkill at all.
it something you can imagine happening.

at first I was like... hum this better be good...
and it is.

it's not emo at all. not clichΓ© or anything.

seems like storyboard for a movie.

though maybe I wouldn't say it's "conceptual" as it's pretty much "as is it"...

good stuff

When you base a scenery on a play (esp when it's such an old one with a new setup) - a lot of conceptual work is involved. That's whz Conceptual is justified here.

And as for emo... he. I didn't even know the expression for a long while. You will hardly ever find me doing work like that.

Thanks for your comment!
