There is a whole lot to love here. Specifically, for me to love. Because the vast, vast majority of these are my ships. And the ones that aren't are still pretty good. :3
Also batter-dipped in love is the plethora of Billy Joel songs. Did I tell you that I love Billy Joel? For his work was the soundtrack of my high school experience.
Now I have to go download the few songs on this list that I don't know.

You never mentioned it, but I knew it to be true. The Piano Man was truly the soundtrack of our young lives. I was lucky enough to see him in concert once, on 7 Feb 1999 (full disclosure: I didn't remember that date - a day after the 19th anniversary of my hatching - Google told me). I actually cut several Billy Joel songs from the list because I wanted it to appear like I had diverse interests. Between BJ, Jo Dee Messina, Green Day, and Pilots v Aeroplanes, that covers most of my middle and high school years.
At the very least, I hope to find enough inspiration to keep adding to this document as new songs inspire new stories. I admit that I don't super-heart all of the songs listed, but they are the ones that gave me a story in my head. Some of the songs I was inspired by the lyrics. Others just by the feeling. Some of them I had never heard before, but came across by the wonderful experiencing of picking a song on YouTube and letting it auto-play me wherever it wanted to go. It's kind of a fun game (similar to the Wiki game): pick a song, hit play and see where you end up an hour later.

You're not the only one who plays the Random Youtube Game, heh. Loving your playlist here. The Flutterdash theme songs are especially perfect. They should play them at their wedding!
Speaking of shoulds, I should subject you to my own shipping soundtrack sometime (at least the tunes that don't overlap with yours...).

And here is part two of the list that totally isn't spam (seriously DA, come on):
"Skyfall" - Adele - Lyra x BonBon
This one is my attempt at a little inside joke, re: Agent Sweetie Drops from "Slice of Life" (aka "Bond, Bon Bond").
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"25 or 6 to 4" - Chicago - Tavi x Scratch
Tavi loves Vinyl, but her all-night jam sessions are really hard to put up with. ("How can you call that 'composing' when the end result isn't even music?")
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Come sail away" - Styx - Sand Dollar x Silver Sonnet
Okay, this one isn't real original, and doesn't fit as well as the title suggests, but I really want to learn more about these two. Please give us more!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A Whole New World" - Aladdin - RD x Flutters
Of course cool ponies can love Disney. Maybe a little too on the nose, but if I was trying to woo Flutters, I think a Disney song would be a good choice (nopony includes as many singing animal scenes as Disney). [Side note: I think Flutters hides during the opening and the climax of most Disney movies, but she loves the middle and the end.]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Believe it or Not" - Joey Scarbury (Greatest American Hero theme) - Flutters x RD
Nopony could make Flutters enjoy flying unless it was alongside her Dashie.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Perfect Together" - Rosanna "Ro" Pansino - Cup Cake and Carrot Cake duet
Okay, I was pretty proud of this one.

That sounds like a good plan. I'm always up for a friendly ship-off. In fact, I will go one better and throw out a bunch of guesses first based on the few vague things I know
about you. If I get one correct, then I get to proclaim to the internets that I am officially your 42nd biggest fan. (Which isn't as bad as it sounds. I think Liz cheated and claimed
superfan spots #1 - #10, and it's always good to have room to grow.)
Just as a warning, sometimes I will intentionally interpret the lyrics differently than they were originally intended (e.g., playing it straight when the original was ironical). I also tried to keep the mix diverse (i.e., the longer you keep reading, "di-verse" it gets...).
Unfortunately, it appears that I will have to split it up or something, because DA keeps warning me that it thinks my awesome comment is spam.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General" - Gilbert and Sullivan (Pirates of Penzance) - Twilight x mystery marefriend
Twilight is very knowledgeable about so many topics and she proudly spouts trivia at anyone who will listen. In this case, she is describing how huge and sexy her brain is to her
would-be marefriend. No, she won't tell you the mystery mare's name; quit asking already!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Kodachrome" - Paul Simon - SB x SS
I admit that this one is a joke entry, but I enjoyed it enough to include. I heart the idea of SB giving SS the nickname "Kodachrome" because of Silver's all-grey color-scheme
(note that it is a meant in a very sweet way, describing how Sweetie finds Silver beautiful just the way she is). In candy horse land I think that being grey-scale would stand out
and draw (unwanted) attention.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"All I Ask Of You Lyrics" - Phantom Of The Opera - SS and SB duet
Yeah, this one is a cheap gimme; I really wanted to get at least one right (and my knowledge of showtunes is sadly lacking). Plus, I know you would agree that this would be a
lovely duet.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I want you to want me" - Cheap Trick - Trixie x Trixie
This is just one of Trixie's morning affirmations that she sings to her mirror.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Cruel to be kind" - Nick Lowe - Babs x Twist
Babs may be the sweetest jerk-ass in the world - when nopony is looking - but one would have to look closely to tell. Even her attempts at compliments come out sounding like
insults. Lucky she found a filly whose special talent is possibly literally seeing the sweetness in the hearts of others. (Or maybe she just likes candy canes? Still not sure.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Just the way you are" - Billy Joel - Twist x Babs
Because Babthie is perfect just the way she is. I seriously doubt that Babs thinks so highly of herself, and she probably has no clue what it is that Twist sees in her.
