I think this particular image has probably been 'done to death' but nevertheless I wanted to have a go at it!This is around A5 size and done with H-9B pencils.

It looks amazing! The emotion in the eye is incredible. How true artists can achieve that, I'll never know!
Though I was speculating, if you cropped the image to just the top right corner, the balance of light and dark might be more dramatic. Maybe?
BTW, if you say you drew this on a smaller paper, what size do you usually use? I'm new to drawing, obviously.
