Description
Quick pen and ink study of an old engraving that I saved somewhere on my desktop (can't remember the name!)In the original there are loads more guillotines in the background, but because this was just a quick study, I cheated and left those out! I'm such a terrible person.
Looking forward to finishing this exam work in some aspects, because as much as I'm fascinated by the revolution, drawing guillotines isn't much fun. It's so depressing!
Oooops. His right hand looks like a pig trotter. *snort*

NYAHH let me rephrase that! A propaganda fail as far as making Robespierre look like a bad guy goes.. but effective in imagery! I imagine it did its job at the time

Indeed, the imagery is what makes it successful propaganda... but they just make Robespierre look muscular and sexy

Yes... is worse. I love how they made him with very tiny hands and very big head. And the heart looks like a fruit. Thermidorian propaganda is sometimes funny.
I saw at some point an engraving of his friend's heads looking very wicked, and his head looking very calm and very ~Harry Potter~... I can't find it T.T

Exactly! That's what I thought the first time I saw it - I thought he was squeezing an apple or an orange or something!
